Served in a Lagunitas mason jar.

Judging by the sweat after my run tonight, it's definitely Summer now. This stuff pours a clear brass topped by over a finger of white foam. The nose comprises light lemon peel, light wheat, light sweet flowers, and a hint of what may or may not be coriander. The taste brings in more of the same, but ups the lemon to a point where it's the clear star, making for a fruity breeze of a drink. The body is a hefty light, with a moderate carbonation and a crisp finish. Overall, a nice little hot-weather quaff, nothing special, but something easily drinkable.

A - Poured into a pint with a golden color and a lot of carbination bubbling up.
S - Grainy, wheat. malts
T - Malty taste, wheat and a little yeasty.
M - light but with a bit of carbination. goes down easy and refreshing
O - Many other summer beers beat this one. Flavor was not right for me.

12oz bottle into mason jar. i can't be bothered to decipher the archaic code on the back. i know anchor prides itself on being 'old-school', but it's 2013 for shit's sake.

very clear yellow-amber look, small white fluffy head. smell is dry grain/wheat, with some lemon-pepper. taste is light, fluffy, airy wheat, with a lemony kick of hops. feel is light, finish of lingering bitterness.

Appearance: Golden with great bubbles and good lacing.

Smell: Lemon...a lot like Pinesol. Somehow that medicinal smell works pretty well here.

Taste/Mouthfeel: Lemon and pine. Medium dry with a seltzer dryness. Taste is ok, but I really like the mouthfeel.

Overall Drinkability: Not a great beer. None of the fruity/yeasty wheat qualities I like. I would drink this again, but would not go out of my way.

Pretty average tasting beer to me, nothing about it really stood out. It is pretty drinkable, had to try it when it came to bottle shop. Tasted almost amberish to me. The bottle describes it as being very crisp, but I didn't get that experience. Maybe had it been on tap...

Poured two fingers of foamy head on a clear, golden colored body. Lots of bubbles, looks great.
The aroma is nice: honey and clover.
The taste has a moderate, dry bitterness that almost goes towards metallic. It's tempered by the wheat softness.
The texture is crisp with moderate carbonation.
It's on the more bitter side for a summer beer, tends towards a German pils bitter taste.

Clear deep golden color with a finger or more of white dense head. Good amount of lacing for the top two inches of the glass.
Smell is very light malts with a touch of floral hops.
Taste is bitter lemons with a good earthy leather hop bitterness.
Mouthfeel is a bit light but expected in a beer of this type. Carbonation is just right and the beer finishes quite dry.
Overall a good summer beer with a distinct Anchor Brewing flavor profile. I never did taste or smell the wheat aspect which is fine by me. Not a big fan of wheat beers in general.

You show up with Corona. I show up with Anchor Summer Beer. Guarantee; we drink mine before we drink yours!

A-Looks damn fine. Nice head. Pretty clear but with a little wheatish haze.

S-Light, sweet, nothing puzzling or confusing

T-Fresh copper pennies and malt balls. Nothing stagnant or over-bearing.

M-Smooth, slightly fizzy, goes down nice.

O-Damn fine session beer. Great intro to craft beers for Bud-light lovers. Bring this one to the beach or the barbeque. A great warm-up beer before the big guns come out.

Poured into a Pint Glass

Appearance - Hazy Golden Color with quite a bit of carbonation. Head retention is decent and the lacing is sticky and very abundant.

Smell - Wheat & Grassy Notes along with some grainy, biscuit notes. But overall, the smell isn't really there, halfway being to non-existent almost.

Taste - Wheat, Barley, Yeasts and some malts. Flavor is a bit stronger here but nothing remarkable about it. Still it's quite tolerable and, to it's credit, still very drinkable.

Mouthfeel - It's light bodied and the carbonation is mild. It's got a crisp feel to it and even feels refreshing.

Overall - There's nothing remarkable about this beer other than it's refreshing and drinkable. It would've been cool had there been some more flavor, but for what is it's alright.

A - completely transparent, gold with a nice, soft, dense cap of white head

S - grainy, faint wheat, some light fruit

T - grainy, wheaty, lightly fruity, faintly grassy

M - light bodied, well carbonated, a bit crisp

This is a rather simple beer. This comes across as a microbrewers answer to a light American lager. It has a mildly grainy taste and a very light body. The wheat is there but it's solo with nothing to support it. This isn't a beer I'l buy again.

I'm kind of surprised at the average reviews this beer is getting. For me, this is almost exactly what I want in a summer beer. Clean, crisp, refreshing, but not lacking in complexity or general taste. The wheat flavor is great - just the right amount. The finish might be slightly dry, but overall I'm glad to add this to my summer arsenal.

Poured from 12oz bottle into a pint glass. Bottled 4/26/2012.

Appearance: medium golden hue with a haze-free body and a nice, moderate effervescence. Head is a finger of pillowy white foam with a nice lace left on the glass. This reminds me much more of a kristalweizen than an APWA, but I like it nonetheless.

Smell: malty aroma which is lightly grainy and lightly wheaty. Pretty basic aroma, but it's very clean and seems well-crafted.

Taste: flavor is like the aroma, a basic, grainy, wheaty malt flavor. There is also, however, an interesting floral characteristic which could be a yeast by-product or possibly due to hopping. It's not bad, though the overall effect is a little perfumey for my taste. Still, not a bad hot-day refresher.

Mouthfeel: medium-light body with a well-integrated carbonation and a pretty nice creaminess. I like it.

Overall: a decently refreshing beer, if not a perfect one. The floral/perfumey character of the flavor just doesn't suit me, at least not in the intensity evident here.

Pours a slightly hazy, brilliant gold color with a full head of creamy white foam. The head retention is fairly good and leaves some lace on the glass.

Aromas begin with a distinctly wheat-like maltiness with some mild notes of citrus.

The tastes begin with lemony notes wrapped in a blanket of soft and dry wheatish malt. A mild bitterness rises and leads into a dry lingering finish.

The mouthfeel is light bodied with medium amount of carbonation. Finish is dry and refreshing.

Overall this is one of my favorite readily available summer session ales. There are definitely better, more flavorful versions but much pricier and harder to track down. Nothing revolutionary just very balanced and drinkable.

Served on tap in a pint glass

Appearance – Served a soft golden color with a one finger white head. The head faded rather fast to leave a medium level of lacing. The beer had a good deal of carbonation bubbles streaming up throughout.

Smell – The aroma was of lightly toasted malt, some wheat, as well as some light citrus notes. Overall it was very light and simple.

Taste - The taste started out crisp and of a bready-wheat nature. As the taste advanced some lemon hop flavors come to the tongue. While before the presence of the lemon hop there is a lighter sweetness that is present, once the hop arrives the beer dries out some. In the end a slightly dry citrus lemon and wheat flavor are left on the tongue.

Mouthfeel –The body of the brew is quite thin and watery with a higher level of carbonation. It is quite refreshing and suits the summer session style well.

Overall – An OK summer style ale. While not tons of flavor it is a good for sessions with pals over a long summer night as it is light and refreshing.

Appearance- Pours a straw gold with a finger width of foamy white head. Leaves a nice lacing on the glass.

Smell- Wheat, citrus, grains.

Taste- Toasted wheat and grains are the more predominate flavours followed by a slight hint of citrus. Finishes with the toasted grains and malts.

Mouthfeel- Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

Overall- A refreshing wheat beer by Anchor. Clean flavours with some pleasant toasted characteristics. A crisp and simple brew.

This pours a golden straw color with great clarity and some foaming on top that lingers.

Not much of a discernible aroma in the least. There’s a slight bitterness veering into tartness, like a light Berliner-weiss tang. Not a heavy hefe/wheat beer. Refreshing, crisp, smooth, effervescent, with a clear flavor that cuts through a meal. Refreshing and perfectly suited for summertime.

A - Golden pour with great clarity. White soapy foam on top. Minimal lacing.

S - Mild scent of wheat and lemongrass.

T - Taste is of fresh grain, and some lemon zest.

M - Raspy feel on the tongue. Light feel, and refreshing. Extremely sessionable.

O - Not an exciting summer beer, and not nearly as good as the reliable Anchor Steam. But it will hit the spot on a hot summer day.

A-pours a slightly hazy yellow straw color with a white foamy head with really nice retention
S-lemon, hint of grass, wheat in the background
T-tastes a bit watered down. has all the elements that are in the aroma, just doesnt seem to have alot too it
M-light bodied, almost watery
O-aroma and appearance are really nice but just seems to be lacking everywhere else. Even for a lighter style it doesn't seem to have enough structure

I don't like wheat beers but this one is pretty nice-

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a nonic tumbler- pours a clear golden strawy color, two fingers of fluffy white head, great retention, nice lacing. Visible effervescence.

Smell is nice- balanced between round wheat and citrus hops. Appealing.

Taste is consistent but has more to it. Wheat up front, followed soon after by dry citrus hops which fade throughout the rest. Not too wheat-y.

Mouthfeel is nice and refreshing- light body, moderately carbonated, a little resin from the hops. I would recommend this summer beer over all others from mainstream breweries.

Bottled 2AB (April 2nd, 2012)

A: Pours a clear pale yellow color with 2 fingers worth of fluffy white head that retains well and leaves some nice lacing

S: Mostly malted grains, wheat, and very light hops. Light and crisp overall

T: Follows the nose with malted cereal grains, a touch of wheat, and light grassy/earthy hops

M: Light bodied with moderate carbonation. Very smooth and refreshing

O: Certainly one of the easier drinking summer beers, nice and light with enough flavor to make you want to keep drinking. Nothing off-putting and a solid choice for a refreshing beer

Pours a golden-straw color with a half-finger of fizzy head that dissipated quickly. The nose is akin to that of an American adjunct lager - not a good start. The taste is fairly light with a crisp, dry finish. Quaffable, but nothing special in the least.

A: Probably the best factor for this beer. It's got a nice straw color with a head that resembles egg whites (as the bottle indicates) which sticks around for a while. The beer definitely looks inviting.

S: Not much there. I hate to say it but it just smells faintly of wheat and little else, kind of like a macrolager.

T: I was hoping it would taste less like a macrolager than it smelled. No luck. It's a tad bland with a slight bit of citrus but not enough to notice. Other than that it's wheat but in a light light way. Watery flavor.

M: Light with some nice carbonation for summer. Watery body. Refreshing mouthfeel.

Overall, this beer is fine. It's good for the summer. There's just not much to it, honestly. I'm not offended by it, but eh.

From the bottle marked 2AQ. Sampled on July 12, 2012. The color is an excellent looking pale to golden yellow with a long-lasting softish white head. The aroma is subtle all around with field wheat, grains, bread, and a cleanliness. The body is light to medium. The taste has a slightly more bitter character to it than other summers and little in the way of citrus. Also there is a short lingering finish. Very easy to drink to boot.

A-Clear yellow, some carbonation, two finger light fluffy head with a tad bit of lacing.

S-Malt, straw, some grass and a tad lemon.

T-Sweet, rather malty, straw, tad bit of grass. As it warms it starts to go down hill fast.

M-Medium bodied, good deal of carbonation.

O-While cold, the beer is decent, however as it begins to warm even slightly, it goes down hill.

A: Pours a crystal clear pale golden yellow in color with very light amounts of visible carbonation. The beer has a finger tall foamy white head that slowly reduces to a thick film covering the entire surface of the beer with a small thicker patch just off center and a thick ring at the edges of the glass. Significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: There are light aromas of bready malts, wheat, yeast, citrus/lemon, and just a hint of skunk.

T: The taste of this beer is similar to the smell but a little bit more intense/strong. The wheat flavor is more intense than the bready malts. There is a light amount of earthy hop giving a light amount of bitterness. Notes of lemon/citrus are also present.

M: On the heavier side of light bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation.

O: This beer is refreshing, enjoyable, and easy to drink. This beer is very sessionable and would be enjoyable on a hot summer evening.
