750ml bottle, served in a stemmed glass. Pours a medium brown body, not quite like a porter/stout, but distinctly brown with a slight purple hue. Smells of rich toffee, English malts, with a bit of spicy pumpernickel, lemon, leather, moderate lactic acidity. It's an interesting mix; it doesn't seem to give off as much dark fruit character as you'd expect for an Oud Bruin. But it's a somewhat malt forward beer without being distinctly malty, if that makes sense. Flavour is moderately acidic, lemon with the toffee, light caramel, lemon following. Bit of leather. No roast or coffee flavours; not so much the dark fruit either. It just seems a bit bland for the style. Mouthfeel is medium-lighter bodied, good carbonation, slightly slick and sweet on the backend. Seems to be a bit of a miss for what I assume they're trying to do here, but still a tasty beer that actually kind of defies classification.

Had at a large bottle share.. forgive me for lack of details.. One of the most delicate Oud Bruins I have ever had. Very nice beer.
