In the tradition of the robust beers of the Ruhr district, this export golden lager is malt forward and moderately hopped.

Thick white head over clear yellow-gold beer

Malt and yeast scent. Not unpleasant but nothing spectacular.

Crisp malty flavour.

Smooth and crisp mouthfeel. Very mild carbonation.

Solid lager.

Clear dark gold color. Poured a tall head that collapsed back to a thick skiff after a couple of minutes. Medium flow of small bubbles, mostly off the side of the glass instead of the bottom. Left some tiny dots and patches of lacing.

Malt scent with a light bread dough yeast. Just a hint of hops. Swirling the glass kicked up some light barnyard and a fresh out of the oven bread smell.

Toasty malt flavor dominates. Very slightly sweet. Mild bitters with a light hop flavor. Very light yeast flavor. The aftertaste has the malt quickly fade while a medium bitter and hops takes its place.

Mix of creamy and oily feel before it foams up a bit. Mild tongue tingling while it grows to a coarse foam. Feels a bit sticky. Slightly astringent.

I feel like this is on the edge of the style. It was tending more towards a bready ale than a malty Helles. Surprisingly heavy body. I liked it, but I don't think I would have more than one per session.

Look: Illuminated brass orb and shadowed by encroaching wings.

Smell: Sweet breads with grain crusts welcome the nose. Less prominent are dandelion leaves and flower buds, but they do manage to peek through the doughy foundation.

Taste: Those flower buds are far less coy in the mouth than in the nose, dusting the imbiber with sweet leaf aromatics. After the floral wave grassy herbs soon start to rampage. The message here is that this libation has been lagered by ruminants, deer, in particular, who have mashed together seed imbedded crusts with rich spears of grass of which these four legged munchers are connoisserus.

Feel: Smooth and teetering on flatness.

Overall: One mug suffices as the vegetable musings that is this beer tend to creep about before completely entangling the senses. I liken the moment to an encounter with aesthetics not far removed from Gaea's earthy furrows and verdant bowers.
