An assertive west coast IPA dominated by bright and juicy American hops. The huge complex aroma is dominated by complimentary pine and resin notes. On the palate this aggressive but drinkable ale delivers with an array of citrus flavors highlighted by a bright subtle fruit candy character from calypso hops, and balanced with a malt profile reminiscent of rye bread. This beer pairs well with fatty cuts of steak, green chile enchiladas, buffalo wings, or a classic cheeseburger.

There are 4 strains of hop used in this beer, I found that one of the varieties puts this IPA over the top and radiates a slight mowed grass taste. Overall, not a bad beer at all though.

On tap in a straight pint glass.
Rich golden, small-medium head. Really nice first impression, nice balance of malt. Leans piney than floral.
I’d get again!

No date on the can, but I think this is a little on the old side for an IPA. Kind of lost this can in the back of the beer fridge.

Pours a nice (mostly) clear light gold with a foamy white cap. Active carbonation, though that could be from the ridges in the bottom of this spiegelau (I think that's how it's spelled) glass. Head shimmers like glass shards and leaves some lovely lace in its wake. Smells piney and citrusy with a sweet malt backbone which is how I like my IPAs. Doesn't smell muted to me, but then I don't exactly recall the fresher samples I had a month or so ago. There's some light tropical fruit notes as well. Tastes more malt-forward than the nose implies (what's those caramel hard candies called again?), at least up front, but the hops hit you on the back end. They lean in a soapy citrus direction. Or maybe I just didn't wash and rinse this glass properly. It is a bit of a pain in the ass unless you've got tiny little hands. Moderate bitterness with what I would call average carbonation and mouthfeel. It suits matters just fine. Yeah, that's all I got. This is a perfectly drinkable flagship IPA.

Poured into a wide mouth chalice: color is gold, slight haze, head is bright white with fine to small bubbles, head presents 1 finger thick and then dissipates to mixed froth top with lacing.

Smell is mixed pine and citrus, slight dankness, citrus pith, earth, light maltiness that is more neutral base malt with a hint of biscuit.

Taste is similar with a big hop character that leans pine/earth/dank - citrus pith but limited fruitiness, malt is base malt with hint of biscuit sweetness.

Mouthfeel is low/moderate carbonation, moderate sweetness, moderate/strong bitterness.

Overall a moderately hoppy and bitter then many recent IPAs - big pine/citrus pith character, solid malt backbone, light sweetness.

Served in a pint glass on tap.

L---Light orange color. Nice, fluffy white head that has ok retention and initially left very nice lacing, but that stopped as the head faded.

S---Smelled like a proper WCIPA. There was pine. There was citrus. There was tropical fruit.

T---Followed the nose. Pine, lemon, orange, grapefruit, pineapple, mango.

F---Lighter than expected for the bounty of flavors. I'd call it medium bodied with middling carbonation.

O---A good take on a WCIPA by an East Coast brewery. I'd get this one again.

From a 16 oz. can into a Willi Becher glass, this beer pours out an apple juice gold and forms two fingers worth of bone white crown. It’s between not clear, but nowhere near hazy.

The nose brings more old school tones to it. Some pine, resin and caramel sweetness.

The taste proves the nose is right to leading you down the more old school hallway. Which isn’t a bad thing. Pine, slightly SLIGHTLY burnt resin mixing with faint caramel malts.

The mouthfeel is thick and syrupy. No ABV burn, but it does offer a bitter base.

Overall, it’s not a bad brew by any means but there have been better of the style made.

Ok. Since this place is literally 7 minutes from my place of work and I have yet to be there in going on 3+ years obviously there's nothing I'm interested in, including work. Oh well. it's not my last (dream) job. Life goes on, and we drink (another) beer ...

First, the color is embarrasing, breweries need to start realizing, this pale, faded, yellow? apricot? way too clear is not a pretty color, or good look for your beer. My Steel Reserve 211 today looks like a real good, fancy, craft beer compared to this.

Smell and taste are good, though, crisp. clean,. melon, pear, grapefruit, orange. No off smells or tastes. Clean mouthfeel, $1.50 16oz on the mixed rack, not a bad buy at all. Overall, good.
