This unique and complex seasonal ale is free will’s best-selling seasonal. This very strong brown ale has a delicious malty backbone with notes of caramel, brown sugar and graham cracker. Aged on a unique and complex bean that provides additional peppery and molasses like flavors in addition to the classic coffee presence in the aroma and on the palate.

Sampling a cellar temp 16 oz can poured into my snifter. Part of a recent exchange with a friend in PA for some TreeHouse brews. Thanks Craig!
The beer pours a clear mahogany color with some ruby highlights and a frothy khaki colored head of about 2 cm foaming up from my gentle pour. The head fades rapidly to a sturdy edge layer and some spotty surface bubbles.
Aroma is some coffee and caramel, more like a mochachino scent here with relatively sweeter notes than roasted coffee grounds. Maybe even a little fruity, but no booze or hops showing up on the nose.
First sip reveals a smooth textured medium bodied beer with very fine and tingly carbonation.
Flavor is also more on the sweet side than roasted malt side for a coffee beer. I get a bit of sweet chocolate, some caramel, and brown sugar mixing. There is some biscuity malt and a bit of dark fruit again, but no hops and no booze again that I pick up. Fairly sweet and malty brew from start to finish. Not a very roasty coffee beer and would be a nice dessert or night cap like Im treating it as.
A nice malt lovers brew with a decent hidden punch of ABV. Worth a shot for the winter months for certain.

Pours average looking brownish-red, more pale and clear than either coffee or most brown ales. Smell is fairly mild, of coffee and caramel malts. Taste seems average at first sip, but...WOW does the flavor open up quickly. Well balanced caramel malts and coffee. Smooth feel and almost no acidity or bitterness, which is remarkable for a coffee beer. Maybe a bit light for the style, but well done and quite tasty.

Pours a slightly tan creamy foamy 1 finger head that fades semi slowly, plenty of lacing, semi clear auburn slight ruby color.

Nose loads of coffee, fresh brewed coffee and acidic coffee, very fruity coffee too almost to the point of infection but not quite there I don't think just the bright acidic coffee, caramel, brown sugar, oatmeal, cocoa, alcohol almost fusel, toasted biscuity graham cracker.

Taste a bit sweet, plenty of oatmeal and creamy oats, a little cocoa dark chocolate, plenty of roasted coffee, again fresh brewed acidic coffee with fruity undertones, little vanilla too, brown sugar caramel sweet, and maybe molasses too, a little toasted biscuity malt, brown malts, hint of bitter spicy hop, little booze flavor but not much burn, chocolate melted into water thing. Finishes sticky sweet with a bit of warming booze, bitterness, and chocolate syrup

Mouth is med bod but thin for what it is, a bit syrupy, lighter but decent carb, a bit of warming booze.

overall interesting, not quite my style of coffee choc oatmeal brown, a bit too thin and not enough malt character, syrupy, seems a bit messy, coffee is really interesting and unique but not my style for a beer, maybe as a coffee it would be great, just strange beer all around, but fun to try.

Poured into a nonic pint glass, the appearance was a sturdy dark brown color with a finger’s worth of white foamy head that fell off at a moderate pace to leave some light lace running around the sides of the glass fairly nice. The aroma had a nice blended of roasted coffee, sweet oats/grains, some milk chocolate, dark chocolate, touch of vanilla, caramel, nuts, sweet wood and a touch of Irish coffee creamer at the end. The flavor leaned slightly to the sweet side allowing the roast to make a strong effort to come in for a balance but stays just a pinch behind. Aftertaste was a fully strong coffee sweet and roastiness. The finish was long, smooth, malty and sweet. The palate was about medium bodied with a good carbonation and ABV. Nice smoothness rolling over my tongue. Overall, pretty good brown ale that I would like to come back to if I could get it again.

Another stab at a beer I have less than great expectations for, although the box and label descriptors were enticing, the moment I poured this clear, dark ruby brown ale, I knew I'd missed the mark. The only slim-bodied beers I typically enjoy are pale in color, and I was hoping this would be something a bit richer.

Aromas of coffee and mild malt on the nose, followed by flavors of the same - coffee, sweet toast, maybe a hint of maple or wood; thin-bodied, moderately carbonated, with a lightly bitter finish that lingers and presents a combination of burnt coffee and oaky tannins. Not a fave, but fans of light American brown ales with coffee may feel differently.

At Gingerman in NYC.
Pours a murky reddish brown color with one finger of light tan head and low carbonation evident. Nose definitely has peanut butter, chocolate, light coffee, toasted notes, bread and biscuit malts. Medium body and low carbonation, super smooth.
Overall an interesting beer and I dig the nose.
