ST: 12 oz bottle poured into a lager glass

A: A white head that disappeared quickly, it is pale gold with steady carbonation.

S: Fairly light, some floral hops and a bit of metal.

T: The hops start at the front though they retreat early, some metallic taste remains. Mostly though, there is a sweet yeasty taste. The finish is light and does not linger.

M: Light and clean though the finish is not crisp.

D: This is where the beer shines, it is light and because it is not aggressively hopped, can be consumed with ease. It actually would make a good summer beer on a hot day.

Overall: Not bad, after all, it claims to be the American lager style and it delivers that. It is like the big name boys, though, I would have to say it better. A decent lager for the summer or if one is just looking for a beer to drink a beer without large complexity.

Tried this beer in my room in Hong Kong. Poured from a 16.9 oz. can. Has a light golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is dominated by corn, some malts. Taste is light and mild, actually downright bland, also a bit of an unusual after taste to it. Feels light in the mouth and overall just another light lager, nothing to separate this one from the crowd.

A- This is a direct import from China, so everything on the can is in Chinese, and a big difference in my can is the fact that it is stated to be 8 degrees plato, and equal to or greater than 2.5% ABV...I find this to be common amongst Chinese beers. The beer itself is super clear and is very, very light in color, bordering on sickly urine yellow. There is no head to speak of, literally...there isn't even a ring of foam in the glass....I gave this a hard pour too...the carbonation is plentiful and the bubbles are quite bristly looking. As far as lacing goes, there isn't any of this either....just a slightly oily film that lines the side of my glass....below average even for Chinese fare!

S- Dry, musty grain pretty much sums this one up! Trying to be a little detail oriented, there is some sweet corn and/or rice adjuncts, and a mild, but pleasant floral/lemon zest quality too. Don't even attempt to try finding any bitterness here because there isn't any...

T- Ah yes, that familiar Chinese lager taste! Boiled sweet corn juice, perhaps an attempt at some malt character, but hardly, and a funky dusty grain flavor are all contained here. Everything is so lite though that it really comes across as one of those macro light beers under 100 calories. There is absolutely no hop bitterness and the aftertaste is of modest cloying corn syrup.

M- I suppose this area is defined the best for the style, that being crisp, heavily carbonated and very thin bodied! Aside from the adjunct rich formula used here, a person wouldn't really know they were drinking beer!

O- Like most Chinese lagers, this is super easy to drink, as I'm doing on a hot summer day...it's very refreshing for sure! Anyone could handle this, and I would venture to say that many of these could be downed before realizing that you had an alcoholic drink! Great beer for where it's made but a little too modest overall for my liking! With that said, I'd still take this over a few American made light lagers...not the worst in it's class!

Pours out to a brassy yellow, with a two-finger head that subsides rather quickly. Nothing really special here.

The smell is faint, not much there. A bit of hops.

The taste is also quite average. The hops taste is pretty nice though.

The beer is really carbonated and watery, like a soda, but not in a bad way. A cold one is decently refreshing.

I think that this beer is fairly drinkable, and it is nice when cold.

Appearance: Very little head that doesn't stick around long. Pale yellow color. Lots of bubbles.

Smell: Wow! Skunky covers up anything else.

Taste: This beer takes me back many years to my college days; reminds me of all the cheap ones I drunk back in the day. The skunkiness is right up front, just a touch of hops, very little malt sweetness.

Mouthfeel: This I will say, it doesn't clutter up the palate. Its just too light to hang around.

Drinkability: If it weren't for the skunkiness, this would be an easy beer to drink. Second half is better than the first, I think the skunk left the room.

Some information on my bottle: according to the label, this beer has at least 2.5% alcohol, not 4.3% as on this website. Also, it is 8 degrees Plato, pretty light on the grain bill. Bought at Carrefour in Qingdao, China, home of Tsingtao Beer.

Consumed at Tang Dynasty Restaurant in Shanghai out of a green 500mL bottle.

Pours a clear golden straw color with almost no head. There is very little carbonation evident. Lacing? Please.

Aroma is a little bit of spice combined with a grassy and grainy character.

Taste is macro-tastic. Nothing special going on here. There is a bit of a skunky taste, but it does seem to go well with the spicy beef bowl.

Very smooth, but that's the only real redeeming factor for this beer.

First time seeing this one ,bought at Capitol Market, Salem,Oregon. bomber bottle Very nice , simple attractive labelling. Very pale yellow beer, with a large frothy, semi-thick pure white head. Ow this is badly skunked..very nasty aroma, some grassy hops underneath..but the skunk is bad. Flavour? what flavour?..the skunk shows through but not nearly as bad as the nose, everything else is essentially non-existant..a smattering of weak grasslike hops..thin malt. average mouthfeel for style..least it is not nasty Overall not a good beer, not as good as the regular Tsingtao

Served in a bottle at Spice Spirit in Beijing, China

A: Pours a pale golden yellow in color with heavy amounts of visible carbonation. The beer has a thin fizzy quarter finger tall bright white head that quickly reduces to a very thin film covering about half the surface of the beer in a mottled look and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.

S: This beer has a moderate aroma of adjunct malts with rice being dominate and a lighter presence of corn. There is a hint of floral hops and just a touch of what might be described as lemon zest.

T: The overall flavor of this beer is rather mild but you can taste some malts including rice and corn along with some floral hop hints - the beer has a light amount on bitterness but that does not linger.

M: Slightly heavier than light bodied with heavy amounts of carbonation. Crisp.

O: Crisp and refreshing, this beer paired really well with the spicy food offering that was served at the restaurant tonight (Szechwan style). Very easy to drink and enjoyable after a hot day of trekking around Beijing.

My good trading partner and world traveler, einweizenbitte, sent this (among many) to me following his latest foray into the Far East. He always sends me some of the coolest CANs and apologizes for the CANtents as though I care. If it comes in a CAN, I will a) be grateful to the sender and b) give it as fair a shake as I CAN. Such is the nature of The CANQuest (TM)!

A big-ass 500 ml CAN for me to drink and the most interesting thing about this version is the dumbed-down Chinese characters as compared to the existing picture. They must be getting lazy or figure that nobody will call them out on it. Whoops!

Even with an inverted pour, I could barely muster even a finger of fizzy, bone-white head that evaporated like my money at the Mah Jongg table. I was left with a glass filled with a pale-yellow liquid which was lighter than urine and about as equally carbonated. Nose smelled lightly of, no, not uric acid, but instead, corn and a light sweetness of watered-down lager. Mouthfeel was thin and watery and I almost thought "Why bother?", but e.w.b. did me the favor of hauling stateside for me and then shipping it to me, so I CAN at least CANtinue to plow on through the review. This was not so much bad as it was boring. I have had bottled water with more pep. I really felt like I was drinking something so watery that whatever it had begun as was long gone. The finish was equally dull and lifeless and I was thankful that I did not drink it in the dead of winter or I might have died from sheer boredom. This reminded me very much of the equally unexciting Ultra beers of the height of the carbo craze. Not bad, per se, just utterly uninspired and uninspiring. If your favorite color is grey, then this is the beer for you.

Had this beer at a sushi bar for the first time. Served iced cold. appearance was a crystal clear golden color with medium bubbling and a samll white head. Smells of rice and bit of grass. Tastes of mild rice and even milder bittering hops. Not too bad but not enough taste for me.

This beer pours a straw color. It is slightly darker than most light lagers, and I like that. The head is a quarter inch in height, and recedes within thirty seconds into very sparse lacing. The aroma is of rice, and although it is rather faint it is quite strong for the style. The taste is much like the aroma....simple yet pleasant and more than I would expect from a light lager. The mouthfeel is light bodied with lively carbonation, but nothing too aggressive. Overall, this is one of the best light lagers I have yet tasted. I would happily drink this beer again.
