Light clear golden color with white cap and lacing.

Aroma of clean grain with a touch of floral hops.

Taste reminds me a great deal of Heineken like Euro Lagers which is to say, clean, a bit grainy in a good way, and hoppy enough to notice that's both floral and spicy.

Medium texture with balancing carbonation.

Does anyone drink this outside of a Chinese Restaurant? That's the only place I order Tsingtao and it works in that setting or if you're preparing Chinese stir fry at home for friends.

Doesn’t seem to meet some of the requirements of a EPL as defined here. Aromas were difficult to pull out. Along the lines of corn and malt. Pours pale straw color with thin lace. No hoppiness, no distinct flavor that stands out, no bitttetness and little carbonation. Almost tasted like water. Mineral water has more fizz. Not horrible despite my review. Just meh.

A: The beer pours a pale straw color with lots of visible carbonation and a short lived white head.

S: Lots of corn and rice aromas to it, which isn't really surprising. A light/pale malt aroma and a little bit of flowers and grass. Minimal yeast and bread notes.

T: A light bready flavor with a surprising amount of malt flavor. Light bitterness and grassy notes with just a hint of skunk. Sweet grain, particularly from the adjuncts.

M: Light in body with a medium level of carbonation.

O: A light and easy to drink beer. Not really my favorite, but it goes well with a Chinese meal.

Pours clear with a slim head of off white foam that fell fast. No bubbles rise after the initial flourish. head fades to some loose bubbles and a film. Nose is pleasant and surprisingly strong with grainy notes and not much hop. No diacetyl, light dms. A light floral from hop lifts the malt up to your nose in this beer. The drink is malty and has posture. It's breaddy and crisp. The hops are a bit more prominent on the palate then they were on the nose and offer a light herbal. Crisp carbonation and a finish that is clean and bitter from hops so that the malt shows me some bread one more time. I can't say that I taste the usual corn flavors that I do in most adjunct lager. It does finish with a little smooth sweetness and that was a surprise but it does not choke the finish. Light dms in the finish and maybe even just a tad bit of sulfur that starts to peek out on the nose as it warms. I think that off flavors that people are calling skunk is actually this little bit of sulfur. I like it very much.

I dont get the bad reviews of this. Maybe because of bias against the chinese perhaps. It smells very much like heineken tastes a bit like it too. Not as strong of a flavor mind you but similar. Would i try it again, sure if it was on sale or if i got a bunch of singles. Its not repulsive in any way if you enjoy or can take the very bitter "beery" smell and somewhat the same for the taste. its not like a micro brew ipa thats for sure.

look: 3.5 | smell: 3 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3.5

Appearance: pours a clear golden pale yellow color with a 2" brilliant white head that falls quickly. No lacing develops.

Smell: some malt sweetness and grass come through softly.

Taste: mild malt, some grass, lemon zest, and a mild bitterness are all that is detected.

Mouthfeel: crisp throughout. Light in body. Aftertaste is clean and refreshing.

Drinkability: this is a light beer that actually goes well with spicy food. To drink in alone as a session beer, this gets boring very quickly. This has a touch more flavor than some others in the style.

From a bottle into a pint glass. Pale muted gold color. An aggressive pour left it with an inch of head. Quickly dissipated to almost nothing and there was no lacing. On the nose the smallest hint of malts. Simple taste of just "beer". Uninteresting, but drinkable. Lightly carbonated and very light on the palate. Overall, pretty easy to drink. Definitely the most common beer in Chinese restaurants and I don't mind ordering one.

This beer pours a light golden color with a small head and no lacing on the glass. The aroma is slightly skunky and unintersting. The flavor is somewhat skunky - reminescent of Heineken but slightly better. It's a little sweet and fairly crisp, but still not very enjoyable.

Appearance - 2.0
Poured a small white head that quickly disappeared leaving no head at all. Colour is pale straw, large bubbles rising.

Smell - 3.0
Aroma is faint but reveals no off odours. Sweet and malty, hops subdued but there for balance.

Taste - 3.5
Wow, I am really surprised by how pleasant this is! Tastes like a good example of a euro pale lager, I'm not sure if it is all-malt, but it sure tastes like it. Sweetish but crisp, biscuity malt, a little toffee, grassy hops, moderately bitter, finishes quite dry.

Mouthfeel - 3.0
Quite full bodied for a pale lager, moderately weighted, low to moderatel carbonation.

Drinkability - 4.0
What an easy drinker, especially in hot weather.

OVERALL - 3.1
Appearance aside, I am seriously impressed by this Chinese lager. I expected it to be bad, which it was far from.

Poured from a bottle into a standard pint glass. This is one of those beers I have definitely had before, but never reviewed.

A: Super clear, golden yellow with a frothy head that dissipates quickly into a thin ring of lace.

S: Clean rain, boiled sweet corn, wet dog, and rice. Faint whiffs of floral hops. I'd say the smell is not the strong point of this beer.

T: Incredibly nice mouthfeel with perfect carbonation for the style. Slightly sweet and refreshing with traces of rice and miscellaneous grains on the front and a sweet, lingering corny finish.

D: Goes down very smooth. Definitely the highlight of this beer.

Value: Overpriced by a buck or two per sixer if you ask me; Tsingtao is a decent drinker, but only a half step up from Miller High Life.

Smells very sweet, flavor is in line with that smell. Feels very carbonated. Not bad, it's at least better than American equivalents.

12oz brown bottle with a freshness date of 5/23/08. Pours a light straw color with a 1 finger head, poor longevity and poor lace. Slight honey malt aromas with a touch of citrus. This stuff is pretty watery - even as macros go. Some honey and malt tastes with a small bit of bitterness. Its crisp, light and easy drinking but just a bit too watery - even for a macro.

Pale gold in color with large bubbles of prickle that are mildly active. No head. The nose is very some macro brews like Moosehead or perhaps Heineken, but I believe that Moosehead is the match. There are some grain notes, faint hoppiness, and it is surprisingly more appealing than I had expected. My expectations were pretty low. The attack is consistent with the nose. Lots of grain and faint hops that reads as somewhat sour notes. Very light body and mouthfeel. Prickly aftertaste that dries in the mouth. It is amazing how much it resembles "premium" beers from this country but manages to be drinkable.

Keep in mind the taste score of 5 is due to its category and its price, if it was anything else it would soundally fail.

Drinking this straight from the source, or pretty close to it. I do have to say I think it is real funny that most chinese poar your beer into either a wiskey/Old Fashond glass or a High-ball glass. THere is no head, nor any much of anything. But the taste is 40 times better than Budwiser and it has never mad me sick, unlike budwiser. And although I paid a full 90 cents USD for my pint, I have to say it was worth it. This beer is the best Chinese beer that I have incountered; I will post if there is any better local beer. For the price and whithin the catagory, TsingTao (Qing Dao) is the best beer you can get, and I would recan In the US it still beats most American shit y lagers.
