Poured into Pint Glass
Pours a 1 finger fizzy head with little retention, leaving no lacing. Color is a clear straw yellow.
Aroma is skunky, ricey, and grainy. Pretty gross.
Taste is skunky. There is some lime notes with rice and grain. It isn't as bad as the smell.
Mouthfeel is very crisp. The beer is pretty bad so it is hard to keep in your mouth for very long. It smoothes out a lot and then ends with a slight dry skunky aftertaste.
Overall, this is something I would never want to get again. I would rather have an American macro lager over this. Not my style and not something I'd ever recommend.

I first heard about Tsingtao from Adam Sessler on an episode of X-Play back in 2003, and had been curious about it every time I saw an overpriced single of it in Total Rip Off. The label even has a cool prism sticker, and the name is even fun to say “Ching Dow” however this beer is skunked beyond belief, and not in a fun Heineken kind of way. I really wanted to like this one, but it’s a one and done from me.

Clear gold with an off-white airy foam head of moderate height.
It has a distinct skunk, but less so than Heineken, and also has less waxy rice than Bud Light. There's not even really much astringent or metallic harshness. I get a little mild white bun, and even a little floral accent.
I don't hate it.

Chinese beer isn't something I've really had the chance to drink before. I've certainly seen Tsingtao around here in Sydney; however I don't think I've had it before (unless I had it at a Chinese restaurant in which it wasn't all that memorable). I'm expecting your typical Euro pale lager, but nothing much more than that. There was a link here on BA about Chinese authorities catching a man at the brewing urinating a vat of beer. I just sure hope this bottle in front of me isn't from that batch! The bottle says Tsingtao Premium Lager - Imported. There's no date for bottling, or best before. So no idea when this is from. Hopefully it's Fresh.
Purchased at Glenfield Bottle Shop, Sydney.
Appearance:
Looks like a classic Euro pale lager. Very light golden yellow, fizzy white head that evaporates to nothing almost instantly. Heavily carbonated, lot of champagne-esque bubbles racing to the top of the beer.
Smell: Smells like your typical Euro pale lager - thinking Heineken. Very light malt, somewhat crisp sour citrus smell (I hope that's not Urine...)
Taste: Sweet malt, light grassy grain, crisp floral hop notes. Nothing offensive, quite refreshing.
Feel: Thin, watery, highly carbonated. Very sessionable and quite drinkable. Would be excellent with Chinese food.
Overall: Much nicer than Australian lagers. It's crisp, refreshing and simple. A little soda watery, but not in a necessarily bad way. Not a bad lager. Would purchase again.

A totally not-unpleasant lager experience. Pours clear light golden with a rapidly disappearing cap. I actually really dig both the aroma and semi-sweet flavor (both olfactory-ily super similar). I'd definitely drink down a bunch of these if I had more. Okay stuff!

335ml green bottle. Etched on neck is '010424 A1651'.
Clear, straw colored body. Two fingers of white bubbly head, which retreats back to an island and partial ring. No lacing.
Aroma is toasted malt, sulfur, and floral hops.
Taste is sweet malts, sulfur, and floral hops. The sulfur may come from the yeast. Rapid fade on the flavors.
Thinner mouth feel. Crisp finish. Good carbonation.
Wet and crisp, with some skunk.

5/25/23 Poured from a 12 oz pour purchased from the Washington Beer Store.
Very appealing green bottle. Nice classy good looking label.
Very light puddle yellow. No lacing or head.
Slightly metallic on the nose. Cereal, malty.
Taste is not offensive. Rather nice for a light lager. Drinkable on a warm day. Slight metallic on mouth that lingers. Subtle water cracker. Maybe basil.
First beer from China.
