Seems a dozen or more places just like this one have opened in the NYC area in the past 6-9 months. You know the business model, 24 on tap (counter pressure fillers, of course) loads of quality bottles in the cooler and warm, artisinal beef jerky, salsa, hot sauce, spicy chips, empty grolwers stacked and ready to go. Tap selections from quality locals like sixpoint, greenport, regionals, Ommegang and national heavy hitters like Stone. Prices ranged from about $14 to over $40 per growler. Follow for the growler options.

Guys behind the counter were moderatly friendly and informative, one complaint was that my growler was filled only to about 3-4 inches from the top and the rest was foam, I was told the foam "will turn to beer" and thats the way we do magical foam to beer conversion took place...suprise...prices seemed to be on point, especially for a place with this type of village location...gonna be interesting to see how many of these types of places survive when and if the fill a growler with craft beer boom subsides...

Was pretty excited when my wife told me about this place, she had walked by it earlier in the day.

Quality is good, they had good beers available both via growler and in cans and bottles. However, one of the beers I bought, a Devient Dales was 5 months past it's brewed on date. So that was a bit dissapointing.

Service was good, the guys working there were friendly and helpful.

Selection was varied and pretty large for how small this place was.

Prices were fair for NYC.

Overall, a worthy spot to grab a growler or some bottles/cans, however, pay close attention to best by/brewed on dates.

Guess what? Yet another growler and beer shop in Manhattan. This one is on Eighth Street in the Village, by NYU and Washington Square in an area full of restaurants, bars and shops.Go downstairs from the sidewalk and you’ll find the kind of store you’ve seen before: shelves with beer on one side, a growler counter on the other side, gourmet snacks at the end of the store… I swear they prefabricate these stores and ship them to Manhattan!

The coolest thing about “The Growler Station” is their growler menu, which comes on a high-tech television screen with all sorts of information (price, type of growler, brewery, you name it). I’ve never seen anything like it! Selection is quite wide, with everything from locals such as Brooklyn and Sixpoint to Rogue Double Chocolate and Stone Vertical 11 and rare goodies like Evil Twin Christmas Eve, Kuhnhenn Imperial Creme Brulee.

Fairly reasonable prices for the growlers (except for the $47 Evil Twin growler) and exceptional help- I swear they have like six employees behind that counter eager to help you out! They will fill your own growler, which I appreciate. Their growler system is really cool, pressurized and what not to ensure a perfect pour, but I didn’t feel a big difference as compared to regular growler fills.

The bottled beer is nice but damn expensive. I found Goose Bourbon Coffee for $19.99, and they have nice brews from Evil Twin, Stillwater, Mikkeller, a good selection of ciders… Founders Better Half is $31.89. RAPE!!!

I will definitely go back. This is easily the best growler shop I’ve been to in Manhattan. If only they had a bar to sit down with a pint!
