"Let me explain something to you. Um, I am not Mr. Regular Stout. You're Mr. Regular Stout. I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me. You know, that or, uh, White Stout, or uh, Milk Stout, or El White Russian Imperial Stouterino if you're not into the whole brevity thing." We aged this White Russian inspired white stout with cacao nibs, vanilla bean and cold pressed ipsento coffee. The beverage at the end of this process is beer that could turn anyone concerned with style categories into a nihilist. It is amber in color but has aromas and flavors of coffee, chocolate, vanilla, caramel and sweet malt. Delicious now or to cellar until Walter agrees to roll on shabbas (and that will be a while).

16oz can. Poured out a clear, golden amber color with a small, khaki-colored head of bubbly foam. It left sudsy trails of lace on the glass. It smelled of coffee, chocolate, toffee and caramel. Sweet chocolate and toffee taste with a bitter coffee bite.

From the 16 oz can in a snifter. This unique brew pours a dark amber
with a nice head of white foam that settles to a thin ring, thin dusty layer, and shows
some faint lacing. Nose of light coffee, vanilla, cocoa, and cream with sweet caramel
malts. Flavors lightly exceed the nose with caramel, cream, milk sugar galore, medium
coffee notes, and cocoa notes. Decent mouth feel; medium verging on medium light
body, smooth, sweet, light carbonation that has a touch of zip to it, and a sweet lightly
dry finish.
Overall, good, but not sure the Dude would abide....still a solid offering.

Look: Resembles more of an amber ale than any stout have seen. Had a thin white head that quickly dissipated to wispy clouds.
Smell and Taste: This brew is labeled correctly . . . Lactose first. Very sweet with some vanilla notes. Coffee and cacao were hard for me to pick up.
Feel: Bumped the score up a notch because anything with a 9.6 ABV gets a boost from me.
Overall: Only the second "White" Shout I've had and both are somewhat disappointing. If there is such a thing as a milk shake amber ale I think this would be it. Time to move on.

Don't get hung-up on the sight: it says "white Russian" on the label, so it absolutely shouldn't be black in appearance even if it's a stout. That said, it looks like a marzen but I've had coffee IPAs that are even lighter. The smell isn't much. Taste -- if you take anything away from this -- is the complete lack of hop or alcohol profile. I get more coffee than sweetness though there's plenty of the latter. I wouldn't seek this out, but I'm glad I've tried it. Very light in the mouth. Drinks very easily, dangerously so.

Review #4100 and its an older one I haven't got around too. Scored this in a trade w a Chicago land homie.
Well when you say you're a stout, and then you pour looking like a marzen, you could say expectations were off a bit. And that is pretty much a succinct summary of the entire beer, but we'll go through the motions. Almost no head on it. Coffee aroma was weak. More vanilla and chocolate than coffee in the aroma.
Taste, this was a sweet beer. Hid the alcohol well. Didn't taste like a stout. Just a lot of lactose is its primary feature. So then there is the whole white russian thing, this also doesn't taste like that either. What the hell man, so just some cool label art, cool pop culture reference and just a shitty beer? Yeah, pretty much. Did I mention the carbonation was weak on it too? I dunno, definitely the worst Pipeworks beer I've come across, screw their bomber format too.

Unknown vintage; drank 1/24/15 @ the Palace.
Murky orange (?!) appearance.
White head; minimal lace.
Coffee grounds, nougat & mild booze heat in the nose.
Medium thick mouthfeel.
Peanut butter, caramel, nougat & mild booze heat flavors; this tasted like candy bar, but the booze heat saved it from being cloying.
Nice!
