22 oz. bottle, Batch #380-381. Another wondrous new DIPA creation from Pipeworks, with more beautiful bottle art. These guys can do no wrong when it comes to IPA's in my opinion, so my expectations are pretty high.

Poured into a clear balloon snifter.

A - Pours a beautiful bright juicy tangerine orange colored body with a finger or so of soapy bubbly off-white head. Scattered stringy lacing. Looks very nice. The second pour yields a muddier brown color with some yeast sediment at the bottom of the glass.

S - Belgian yeast / funk jumps out at me initially, which is a nice surprise. Fruity juicy tropical hops layered below that - mango, grapefruit, tangerine, papaya, pineapple. Some bubblegum. A bit buttery. Some clean alcohol fumes.

T - Taste follows the nose - bready malt, mild bubblegum, and lots of fruity juicy tropical hops. The German hops lend a very nice clean earthy bitterness to the finish.

M - The feel is smooth, creamy, and juicy. Medium bodied with good carbonation, mildly coarse.

Overall, a nice addition to the Pipeworks family. A nice use of Belgian yeast and German hops to be damn sure. High 9.00% abv is pretty well masked, but there is some warming alcohol present on the end. Very drinkable stuff, no doubt.

Pipeworks Wolpertinger ---4/5.
