Manhattan cocktail inspired rye strong ale brewed with cherries and bitters.
It's back! This collaboration with Longman & Eagle is one of the most challenging and delicious beers we make! Inspired by their version of a Manhattan cocktail, Brown and Stirred is brewed with lots of rye malt, cherries, bitter roots and spices! It's delicious served neat or on the rocks (seriously).

I've never sought a Manhattan, but this beer might make me consider one. Strong cherry notes with some boozy finish. This is a nice strong ale that does capture the concept of a mixologist.

Cherry, bitters, brown sugar, orange peel, cooking herbs, malt and biscuit. Mouthfeel is thin to moderate. Moderate astringent alcohol presence. Good representation of a beer cocktail.

22 ounce bottle into a tulip snifter. Bottled 2/7/17, had 6/17/17.
Pours a fairly opaque, dark amber, with a short head and some soapy lacing. Aromas of cherries, rye, malt, figs, caramel, brown sugar, light yeast. The taste opens up a little- malt, cherries, rye, lemon, figs, dates, caramel, toffee, some brown sugar, light alcohol. There’s a little bit of an herbal flavor underneath and it’s a bit sweet. Smooth, kind of refreshing, a solid medium body, well carbonated.
I like this one a lot. Had the first batch back in 2014, this batch seems better. Well crafted flavors, a great aroma, the rye is the star. They make this more often now, so give it a try. Well worth a purchase.

I see what they were going for, whether I see the point or not, and the end goal is achieved well enough, easy drinking for a double digit abv, but overall this one is just a bit odd
