22 oz. bottle, Batch #513/514 printed on the label. Another new single hop beer to me from the creative geniuses at Pipeworks. Expectations are excellent based on this knowledge.

Poured into a Duvel tulip glass.

A - It pours a nice juicy burnt orange colored body; moderately see-through for a Pipeworks beer, but no where near transparent. Just under three fingers of thick frothy off-white head. Leaves behind some scattered lacing. Looks very nice. 4

S - The aroma is big, fruity, fresh, and tropical. Lots of fresh florals, peach, mango, grapefruit, pine, some soapiness, and a light bready malt backbone. Very fresh and appealing. 4

T - The taste follows the nose - big citrus (grapefruit, mango, pine), some softer peachy / fleshy tropical fruitiness, floral earthiness, some soapiness, and a bready malt backbone to give the whole thing cohesion. 4

M - The feel is smooth & creamy. The beer goes down super easy for 10.00% abv - not a trace of the high alcohol content is noticeable. Mildly bitter / resinous / piney on the palate after the finish, but very juicy and drinkable stuff. Medium bodied with excellent carbonation. 4.5

Overall, not one of their more ambitious or outlandish creations, but it is another fruity, fresh, and delicious DIPA from Pipeworks - these guys continue to impress me, and I continue to look forward to more single hop beers in this series.

Pipeworks Mosaic -----4/5.

Thanks to freefs119 (Reddit) for this one. Shared with rudzud and Kyle.

Nice fizzy fluffy smaller head, light lacing, hazy copper orange color.

Nose bright citrus, fruit with little mango and musty orange grapefruit thing, then typical mosaic it turns grassy and piney, dank musty armpit, little fluffy creamy orange, a little generic tropical, guava papaya.

Taste is more of the same, dank musty fruit, tropical with mild citrus, guava, passion fruit, mango, papaya, creamy citrus orange juice, etc, then mild spicy piney as typical pine resin, etc. Hint of watery sweet malt, nice bitterness, little lingering pine and grassy notes, spicy, dank, etc.

Mouth is med bod, decent carb, no booze.

Overall pretty nice, but still Mosaic being, well, mosaic. Despite that a decent DIPA.

Drank from a 1 pint, 6 fl. oz bottle purchased at The Well, Brooklyn, NY
Served in a snifter

Gorgeous appearance. The nearly crystal clear, dark amber colored body was capped by a creamy, frothy, two finger tall, off white crown. Outstanding retention. The head slowly dropped to a lasting mass of bubbles that was encompassed by a thick, foamy halo. Droplets of lacing coated the glass on every sip.

The nose was quite hoppy. Citrusy hops came through strong. Loads of zesty orange and tangerine. Fairly sweet. Subtle tropical fruit notes. Bit of musty passionfruit. There was a crisp, fruity, yeasty quality as well. The beer had almost a Belgian ale-like quality to it. The fruitiness was really unique and intense. I thought I picked up some strawberry notes as the beer warmed. The aroma then went back and forth between sweet orange peel and fruity, berry-like notes.

Zesty citrus notes dominated in the flavor profile. Loads of candied orange peel. The beer was anchored by a stiff malty backbone. Definitely some caramel malts. A bit sweet for my palate. White grapefruit appeared on the back end. Grapefruit rind and pine sap came through in the finish. Just a touch of bitterness.

The mouthfeel was somewhat lighter bodied for the style and contained a fine, subtle effervescence. Soft and smooth on the palate. Slightly creamy.

Pipeworks Mosaic is a solid double IPA, but it was a bit heavy on malty sweetness and it lacked the intense tropical fruitiness found in many of the best Mosaic hopped beers out there.

Poured from a bomber into an enlarged snifter. This is batch 513/514 which was bottled mid September 2014.

Appearance: Pours a deep amber/copper color with a strawberry hue and leaves some fairly dense off-white head, which slowly fades to a layer atop the beer, leaving lacing. (4.5)

Smell: Big citrus, hint of pineapple and mango, light caramel malts, a bit of resin, honey. Nice aroma - well balanced. (4.35)

Taste: Interesting. Blackberries, strawberries, black cherry, honey, caramel malts, mango, grapefruit, hint of bread. Very different flavors then the aroma - I've never quite had this much berry/non-citrus fruit from an IPA. It works though. Easy drinking for 10%. Lots of flavors at play here. (4.25)

Mouth-feel: Medium carbonation with a medium to full, creamy body. Smooth, nice finish. (4.5)

Overall: Such an interesting IPA. Berries, citrus, cherries, resin, honey - such complex flavors at play here. Really easy drinking for such a big IPA, definitely an enjoyable drinking experience. (4.5)

Bottle from Spycow. Thanks man! Served in a tulip.

A - White foam settles to a solid cap, thicker collar, but minimal lacework. Dark, hazed orange body.

S - Lots of Mosaic hops with balancing malt; pretty similar to other Pipeworks DIPAs in that regard. Tropical fruit, blueberry, sugary malts, perhaps a hint of alcohol. It's hard to articulate here, but it's exactly what you'd expect from a Pipeworks DIPA with Mosaic; if you like Mosaic hops you'll like this.

T - In an odd turn, the malt character seems more subdued in the flavor, with stronger citrus zest and bitterness, and more secondary berry and tropical fruits. This actually drinks more like an 8% DIPA in terms of balance; quite nice.

M - Medium-full body, pleasant carbonation, minimal alcohol, dry finish. Spot on for the style.

D - I kind of wish this Pipeworks beers weren't so heavy on the alcohol, as it would improve the drinkability. That being said, it's another well-made DIPA from a brewery that has been pretty locked in recently.

Pours a clear amber with a creamy, dense and persistent white head.
Citrus fruits lead the aroma with pineapple, cracker and a touch of caramel.
Tasty indeed. Plenty of citrus and tropical fruit, a little sweetness, slight bitter pith and a very clean finish with some boozy warmth.
Medium and smooth.

Bomber bottle, w/o freshness/bottling date info.

Pours clouded tangerine Amber, long lasting off white cap, leaves Che looking sheeting up and down the glass.

Hopped up nose, with some soft pineapple coming to mind.

Simply delicious DIPA, with more pineapple. Smooth, tasty and easy on the palate. Alcohol nowhere in sight. Tropical fruits in control, big and sassy...great stuff...go get some
