Wow. This is a great oatmeal stout without any gimmicks, barrel aging, or crazy heavy flavoring. A reminder of the style I once loved supremely year ago. The luscious and creamy body brings out oat, milk chocolate, vanilla, brown sugar, and cinnamon right to the surface of the taste. The smell is straight up malty oatmeal chocolate chip cookie. Hides the 11% abv well in the flavoring, and not unnecessarily heavy either.

Poured from the bottle into a nonic pint glass.

Deep walnut brown body and totally opaque. Extremely dark and a little muddy looking for the body. Pours real thick though with not much carbonation, but a controlled one finger head which is very creamy looking, with a nice light mocha to tan color. Manage to keep a good thin puck, and a very almost nitrous looking collar. Quite a unique forming beer off the pour I must say. Nice ring like classic lacing comes while drinking it down,

Real nice nose. Big hints of thick roasted malt, a bit of nutty note and a peanut butter cookie like sense coming off of this. Really hints at some chewy character, nothing real off putting, even a little bit of creamy sweetness comes out, thick and rich it seems might be on the horizon with this aroma.

Palate comes quite interesting, and a big brew. Mid palate fills with thick bodied character and a real creamy texture, but manages to stay away from syrup and sugar like qualities. Roasted cookie like grain in the front with big chewy malt and hints of mild coffee and great ripping grain. Finish though burst into a huge fruit sweetness though, but is also amplified a bit too much by some fusel and warming booze alcohol but luckily not too much.

As big as it is, it actually drinks real easily, but it is one to take your time on. Probably would have rated this higher if it actually wasn't so large cause there's some good quality really going on in here.

22 oz. bottle, with Batch #598/601 printed on the label. The latest oatmeal stout creation from the geniuses at Pipeworks. "Consume your fears before your fears consume you".

Poured into a clear balloon snifter.

A - It pours a thick dark inky black with a quarter inch conjuration of dark khaki head that fades to a ring quickly. Leaves lots of sticky spotty lacing behind. Looks excellent.

S - The aroma is pleasant, if a bit on the subtle side of things. Mild sweetened chocolate, vanilla, sugary sweetness, a hint of alcohol, and a vague notion of dark fruitiness. Sweet and sugary, in that associated marshmallow fluff type of way, which reminds me a bit of Pipeworks S'more Money S'more Problems.

T - Wow. Super smooth, creamy milk chocolate, vanilla, cream, burnt brown sugars, caramel, a hint of dark berry-esque fruitiness, and a hint of alcohol warmth.

M - The feel is ridiculously super silky smooth & creamy. Sticky and sugary, with lingering chocolate, light roast, and burnt caramel on the finish. Subtle notes of dark tart fruitiness lingering behind also. The big 11.00% abv is hardly noticeable.

Overall, one of the best beers Pipeworks has produced to date. Definitely proves that they don't need exotic or over the top ingredients to achieve greatness. Highly recommend.

bomber into a tulip glass.

Off white light khaki head that recedes to the edges of the glass. Super dark brown to black body. Aroma is oatmeal grain, molasses, cherry, roasty dark chocolate, and a little bit of heat. Taste is a solid oatmeal grainy sweetness, light notes of cherry, roasted dark chocolatey malts, some more maraschino cherries, and a light touch of heat on the back end. Medium to thin mouthfeel, medium to low carbonation. This is a well done and enjoyable straight up imperial stout with a clearly present oatmeal grain bill.

Pours black with a small tan head an minimal lacing.

The smell you get a good amount of sweetness, chocolate and vanilla, and roastyness and oats.

The taste is magnificent..you get vanilla and chocolate cake sweetness, coffee, roasted oats, some nuttiness in there and I'm picking up hints of coconuts maybe.

The mouth feel is so rich, smooth, and silky, thick, and full bodied.

Overall I truly love this. Nice and complex that you can't get enough of and so rich and smooth. Very well done

Poured from the bottle into a teku glass.
A - Very dark with a tan, creamy head.
S - The aroma is coffee and cookies baking in the oven.
T - The flavors are interesting. Quite sweet with mild coffee tones and a different twang that I cannot put my finger on. Finish is alcohol. Initially I did not like the twang but the more I drank the more I enjoyed. Saved a 1/2 bomber for the next day and found myself looking forward to it. So that must mean I like it!
M - Medium mouth feel, low carbonation.
O - Interesting beer, certainly not your typical oatmeal stout. I'll buy Act 2 if I can find it.

Pitch black with a little carbonation that leaves cinnamon swirls.

Dessert like aroma. Brownies, chocolate, dark roasted coffee.

Nice depth of flavor. Fudge, coffee, root beer. Slight phenol presence with a little booze.

Great mouthfeel. Thick and soft. Carbonation level is perfect.

It's a great no frills stout that's drinkable for the abv.

Pours thick and jet oil black with a tremendously lively two finger head of frothy brown foam.

Cereal, chocolate, roast, and some subtle espresso notes.

Huge roasted flavor as well as oatmeal, chocolate, and again subtle notes of coffee or espresso.

Heavy-bodied, medium carbonation, viscous, chewy, marvelous

Overall, I am a huge oatmeal stout fan, especially for Imperial styles and this one was spectacular!
