IIPA brewed with Raspberries and Honey

Duuuuuuuude... This beer reminds me. Once, I looked at a fish tank. At this medical place I go to? And there were these like beta fish just like fighting. And I thought, uh, that's a metaphore. Life for life. Oh. Yeah. I did shave my eyebrows. I think they're going to like just know when to stop growing. Like how do they know???? They just like stop growing when they're eyebrow length. My mind is blllllown.

Was a bit apprehensive to try an IIPA with raspberries but I love pdub and had to give it a try. Its no crimson snapper IMO but another solid IIPA. The raspberry is very prominent in the aroma but not overpowering with some mild dankness. Raspberry also noticeable in the taste and finishes with an medium astringent bitterness and oily pine resin aftertaste to me. Its not overly sweet for having been brewed with honey but I do pick up very slight honey notes.

Bright clear orange with decent head, little retention, and no lacing.

Fruity and floral. The raspberries come across in the aroma with a light, perfume touch.

The raspberries are light in the flavor. Herbal, floral, and honey. Not tart at all. In fact, I find it rather dry.

Medium bodied, good carbonation, dry.

Very good, but when compared to the ninja/unicorn and other fishes, it's on the low end of the totem pole.

Pours a nice golden orange, with a decent white head that leaves an average lacing. The aroma is sweet raspberry. Initial taste is sweet and a little boozy, but that settles into a subtle raspberry aftertaste that lingers in a good way. Above average mouthfeel for a DIPA. Overall another good one from pipeworks, just doesn't hide the alcohol as well as the other fish.

Pours a hazy golden amber with a noticeable red hue and some floaties. Very little carbonation.

Orange peel, grapefruit, raspberry, and a slight earthy/grassy aroma.

While citrus fruits stand out in aroma, the raspberry puree definitely comes out in flavor. Sweet, slightly tart, and slightly astringent raspberry flavor gives way to subtle citrus fruit and grassy flavors.

Medium-bodied, low carbonation, sweet, sticky, and a little too much.

Overall, this was overly sweet for my taste and my least favorite of the "fish" series from PDubs. I'd be okay with not seeing this on the shelves again.

Thanks to Thomas & Jenny for this one!

Bright golden orange, thin skim on the surface, spotty lace.
Pungent dank hop aroma, faint raspberry in the background.
Bitter hop and raspberry taste, interesting though not seamless. Comes off slightly harsh, but manageable. Raspberry gets a little lost in the mix. Medium bodied, lingering resiny bitterness.
Honeyish aftertaste long after. Overall worth a try, not the best in the series.

Really well done. Mild sweet backbone from honey and purée but hops really do nicely to keep it in line. Really enjoyable again from PW. They seem to have something going with these oddball IPAs.

22 oz. bottle, no bottled on date present. Pipeworks has also discontinued the use of Batch #'s now, so there is no telling what batch this is from, however this was just released yesterday so I know this is fresh as can be. Another DIPA creation from Pipeworks, this one brewed with honey & raspberry puree.

Poured into a Duvel tulip glass.

A - Pours a honeyed orange body. Golden bodied, with a finger or so of white bubbly froth. Moderate scattered lacing.

S - A nice aroma; fresh, fruity, & floral. The berry fruitiness is there, but I wouldn't know it was raspberry without being told.

T - Follows the nose: sweet & fruity. The honey adds a smooth sweetness, and the addition of raspberry puree lends a tart fruitiness, and subtle red wine-like complexities. The true raspberry flavor really only begins to blossom as the beer warms toward room temperature. Crisp, piney, resinous hop bitterness on the finish. Not exactly balanced, but all of the ingredients do stand out to a degree. Very mild alcohol detectable.

M - Crisp, fruity, mildly bitter / resinous. Medium-full bodied with good carb.

Overall, one of the less interesting Pipeworks Square Grouper variants, but nicely made nonetheless. Would be interested to see how this one fares against stuff like lesser known brews like Pipeworks Killer Queen. Recommended.

Hazy straw color, suspended matter. A bit, fruity, a bit spicy, raspberry. Smells better than the taste, I like what they are trying here but it just doesn't come through for me. Worth trying though

22 ounce bottle into a PW snifter. Bottled 9/11/15.

Pours a bright orange, hazy at first pour. One finger head with a fairly hard pour, foamy lacing. Smell leads with citrusy hops, light malt, a general berry aroma that becomes a more fragrant and definite raspberry as it warms. Little bit of earthy hops. Taste also leads with citrus- grapefruit and orange up front, but the subtle raspberry presence put a nice spin on the flavor. Raspberries are a little more prevalent as it warms, like it is with the nose. Also some light malt, yeast, honey. Not as sweet as some of the others in the series, not much bitterness. Smooth, well carbonated, more body than usual for the style.

Might not rank as high as most in the fish series, but it's no slouch. The raspberries give it a pretty unique flavor. It's different, and different is something Pipeworks does really well. Very enjoyable and you might still be able to get one....
