16oz draft poured at Local Option into a shaker pint. Enjoyed on 8.21.16, reviewed from Tasting Journal.

The beer pours a pale golden color, lightly hazy with a foamy white head, about a finger and a half high with good retention and lace. The aroma is nice, light mango fruit, very citrusy with tropical fruit forward hops and some biscuity pale grain lingers. Pretty simple session IPA, refreshing and inviting. The flavors echo the nose, lightly fruity hops, tropical with some mango puree, citrus peel and pale grain, soft and bready. The mouthfeel is nice, lighter body, gentle but lively, active carbonation and a dry finish.

Verdict: A nice Session IPA from Pipeworks, not really a ton of mango going on, but it's bright, tropical and refreshing. I might take a few other Session IPAs over this one, especially at the price point, but this was a solid offering.

32 ounce crowler in a chilled nonic pint glass.

Yellow golden color with a 2-plus F white cap. Nice retention and heavy ring lacing. It has the "come drink me" look.

Grainy to start. It takes a minute or two, then the mango is there. Sweet and lemony.

Mango, light caramel, lemony citrus, light grain.

Light body, easy drinking. Dry with a hop bite. Clean finish.

One leads to another type beer, ideal for a warm day, afternoon, or evening.

16oz can. Poured out a clear, golden amber color with a small, long-lasting head of foam. It smelled of mango, orange peel and floral notes. Sweet mango and caramel with a hint of citric bite.

Thanks to sblickem for sending this one as part of the 2017 PGA Championship BIF box. Reviewed from (very) long-standing notes. Poured from a 16 oz. can into a J. Wakefield O.G. teku glass.

A: Light gold and somewhat hazy. Good visible carbonation, and a finger's worth of white head with very good retention.

S: Tropical fruits, melon; citrus rind, a bit lemony. Cracker malts with a mild husk character to the grain. Not huge, but decent for a “Session IPA”.

T: Melons and tropical fruit - mango and pineapple. Then lemon citrus and and dank hops. The palest of cracker malts add a mild sweetness. A somewhat surprising amount of bitterness in the hang for a Session IPA - melon and citrus mostly.

M: A light body, though probably about average for style. Minimal alcohol presence and a good amount of carbonation sensation.

O: Not bad. It's not my favorite hop profile, and is borderline watery but I suppose acceptable for a Session IPA. There are better APAs in cans, but this isn’t something I’d turn my nose up at. Decent anyway.

Sample canned on 7/31/17, making it nearly four months old. Poured cold from pint can into a glass goblet. Hazy, slightly pale yellow in color, with a tentative pour yielding a one-finger white head that left some decent lacing as it settled. Big aromas and flavors of tropical fruit juice, with pine and citrus zest in the background. There is also a definite vegetal note reminiscent of celery. Despite the good malt structure and honey sweetness, the mouthfeel is medium light and the finish is quite dry. The vegetal notes begin to fade as the beer warms up and the tropical fruit notes become more prominent. Pretty good beer overall, but for my tastes this would be much better as a food beer rather than as a stand-alone sipper.

No date on can. Pours a rather clear golden color with a fluffy head of 1 finger, that recedes and leaves very thick cottage cheese-like lacing on the sides.

Lots of dirty, stinky fruit aromas, with a good dose of arm pit/feet. Hints of mango, guava, and passion fruit. It's strong but not particularly desirable.

The flavor is there, though. Very tart and juicy mango, hints of red grapefruit, slight orange pith, and a bready finish. I get suggestions of honey, but not really a flavor. Largely fruity overall. The only knock i have against it is that it explodes into water somewhat towards the end.

Feel is crisp and clean, and it's a good deal watery, but still manages to surface some hop resins like desperate buoys floating through the lake of electricity.

Overall, this is a very good session IPA. I'd guess from the way the flavor peeks through and how it kind of drifts away, is that it started as an Imperial IPA and was diluted at pitching time a good bit to bring the ABV down. It drinks like a session, but it sure doesn't taste like one.

7/31/17

A: Pours a slightly hazy golden pour. Tall frothy light tan head. Decent retention and spotty bits of lacing.

S: Definitely got some mango in there. Very light citrus and tropical fruit in general. Sweet; can really smell that honey.

T: Yup, more of the same. Tropical fruits like mango and pineapple. Citrusy grapefruit. Maybe some passion fruit? Touch of honey but I'm honestly not sure if my brain is telling me there's honey because I know there's supposed to be honey? Very very very VERY light cracker malt. Crisp finish with hints of mango and tropical fruits.

M: Somewhat thin and watery feel. Crisp finish.

O: Not bad. Suffers the same fate of most session IPAs. Sounds like a great idea but then you just end up with a somewhat "meh" beer. It's good but it's nothing special.

16oz can dated 7/31/17 so about 5 weeks on it.

Pours a slightly cloudy light amber color with a one finger head that sticks around for a bit.

Smells very fruity: lots of mango, pineapple and citrus. Very tropical with minimal hop tones.

Taste is light and fruity. Not overly bitter but some hops are present. Very sweet overall, can't really isolate honey but it probably adds to the sweetness.

Feel is medium body and well carbonated. Juicy and extremely drinkable.

Overall a great pale ale. Will definitely look for more beer from Pipeworks in the future.
