22 ounce bottle into a snifter. Bottled 6/30/17, had 7/21/17.

Pours a thick looking and opaque dark brown, with a small head and some dark, soapy lacing. Aromas of roasted malt, coffee, cocoa, chocolate, light berries, light vanilla, some molasses. The taste also leads with the malt, then chocolate, strawberries, light vanilla, more mixed berries as it warms, some molasses and caramel. Smooth, a bit creamy, a solid full body, well carbonated.

The berries wax and wane and are fairly subtle overall. But, the base really shines in this one and pulls it up a bit. Well worth a purchase, everything by Pipeworks usually is.

Predictably black body - center pour into a goblet gave up a thing finger of foam... Aromas were full of sweet, tart berry notes with mild suggestions of the darker malts and their chocolaty tones... On the sip, sweet-tart berry sweetness and tang take front and center, the warmer chocolate aspects move in on the back-end but never really assert... Body is relatively thin for an imperial stout, the bright berry elements make it seem even lighter than it is - smooth, too, but with tightness from the sharp berry impressions...

All-in-all, I've been less of a fan of berry-infused stouts over the past coupla years, owing to the fact that the aspects of a stout that I enjoy so much seem to take a back seat to the bright, tart berry flavors. I grabbed this one because I've been riding a Pipeworks high the past few days and figured it might break the trend. Unfortunately, for my tastes, this was just more of the same as far as berry stouts go. Their Raspberry Truffle Abduction was perhaps the last berry stout I've enjoyed, and that was back in September of 2014. Previously, I have held BCBS Bramble and Backyard Ryes in high regard, though I was not as enthusiastic about their more recent Regal Rye.

The sweetness from the strawberry and blueberry comes through nicely. Mild vanilla component but the nibs finishes well.

Very strong berry flavor. Sort of like the syrup in a snow cone. I guess The name doesn’t lie.

Appearance - The beer was black with a modest tan head crowning the glass.

Smell - The nose was a light berry presence.

Taste - At the front was a rich blueberry presence followed by deep raspberry toward the back. Strawberry was located somewhat in the middle but was overpowered by the other berries. The berries are a little weak which allows the dominant chocolate malts of the stout to shine.

Mouthfeel - The carbonation level of on target for the style and allows the taste to linger.

Overall - I was surprised by how much I like this one, as it was not medicinal as I expected. I just wanted more sweet fresh berries.
