Initial batch from mid-July, reviewed about six weeks after canning. Still bursting with aroma and flavor, sharp grapefruit and pine resin with backing mandarin, blueberry and cantaloupe. An interesting fusion of IPA styles that shows off some less common flavors associated with Citra hops.

Also, kaleidoscopic cats on the label. Meow.

I'm convinced if this beer came out 5 years ago the rating would be stupid high, because this is an IPA that is very well constructed, features a hop in citra that people went gaga for, and it has great accenting flavors and aromas, but here we are in late 2019 with a solid rating, not great. Plus for some reason people have decided pipework isn't cool anymore and single ipas are trash, don't get it. Let me make my case for why people are missing out on this one: cloudy straw body with a finger of white foam and decent movement from carbonation. Nose burst with the citra hop bitters and pine, but brings with it a full bouquet of pineapple, lime, grapefruit, orange, lychee, and some crisp malts. Taste has a solid cracker malt backbone for the fruits and hop bitters to play off of, integrates all flavors well. Feel has some subtle viscosity to it considering it is a single ipa, with hop texture protruding outward.

Pours a light golden color. Cloudy, but not at all opaque. Thin sudsy bubbly head dissipates quickly leaving just a thin layer of white foam along the top of the beer.

Aroma has notes of tropical fruits with a slight citrusy bent. Some light cracker malt notes come through. Simple yet pleasant.

Tate follows the nose in its simple pleasantness. You get some light notes of orange, light lemon grass, a bit of mango. Cracker malt backbone provide a nice palette to paint on. Light bitterness on the finish. Really does a nice job of showcasing the citra hop.

Feel is medium bodied, smooth with gentle carbonation.

Overall this is a really simple, but perfectly executed IPA. Just another well done beer from Pipeworks.

16oz can, date stamped 07/12/2019? A sticky & frothy ivory head caps a pale golden & slightly hazed IPA. Huge Citra hop aroma of tropical fruit and citrus. Big burst of tropical fruit with notes of mango, passion fruit, orange, and grapefruit with some biscuity malt. Fuller body, soft carbonation, bitter and dry finish. Great accentuation of the Citra hop and an excellent beer all around.
