Dark, brownish hues. Little to no head or lacing. A lot of particulates on top. Wonder if it’s coconut flakes. Smell is toasty dark malt with sweet coconut undertones. Notes of chocolate and vanilla present, but they’re much more subtle. Taste is sweet-coconut is the lead, followed by cocoa and vanilla. Slightly toasty, slight tang. Feel is excellent: full bodied, creamy, well rounded, mouth watering, slightly boozy, and most importantly, it’s neither oily nor syrupy. Develops well as it warms. Only thing I could ask for is a bit stronger flavors from the adjuncts, but otherwise quite enjoyable.

So this is what you get when you pour a pint can of this into a clear Imperial pint glass. It's solid black coffee in color, with the darkest brown head you'll ever find atop a beer. It's also one most short-lived. There are some floaters in the mix, maybe yeast, maybe coconut. The aroma is softly sweet with both chocolate and coconut. The taste is sweet, with more of a vanilla presence than coconut. The mouthfeel is very smooth for anything close to this much ABV, which isn’t very noticeable until it begins warming the innards. Overall, it's sweet, but not in an annoying way. The added flavors are complimentary, balanced and not overplayed. This is (was) a delicious desert stout.

$ 11.00 (Including tax)/16 oz can ($ 0.6875/oz). Purchased 6/3/20 from Franklin Beer, Franklin, PA. Reviewed 6/17/20.
Date on bottom lip of can “7/30/2019”. Stored at home at 42 degrees and served at 50 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. Final temperature 57 degrees.
Appearance – 3.25.
First pour – Brown (SRM 20), translucent.
Body – Black (SRM 40), opaque. When held to direct light, same but some slight effervescence and more floaties are visible.
Head – Small (Maximum 1.5 cm, aggressive center pour), brown, medium density, fizzy, short duration, diminishing to no crown other than a few floaties and some effervescence.
Lacing – None.
Aroma – 3.5 Cocoa and a slight amount of roasted malt. No vanilla, no coconut, no dog. No hops, no yeast.
Flavor – 3.25 – Begins with a horrible amount of chocolate, like a fudge brownie with extra fudge. No coconut and only a vanilla extract burn, no flavor. No alcohol (10.5% ABV, as marked on the label) taste or aroma, but some gastric warming does occur. No diacetyl or dimethylsulfide.
Palate – 3.5 – Medium, creamy, soft fizzy carbonation.
Final impression and summation 3.5. ‘Way too much chocolate for my taste, no coconut, no vanilla. While there is some silky creaminess from the added lactose, otherwise this is a very average sweet/milk stout.

16 ounce can into a snifter. Canned 7/30/19, had 1/30/20.
Pours near black and opaque, thick looking, with a short head and flotsam as cling. Hope that’s coconut. Aromas of chocolate, malt, vanilla, some coconut, cocoa, a little caramel. A little more coconut in the flavor, along with chocolate, vanilla, malt, some cocoa, light caramel. Smooth, somewhat creamy, a very good full body, a little over carbonated and fizzy- and distracting.
The coconut really adds to the base, all the add- ins show well. Great aroma. The fizziness detracts from the flavor and overall impression. Still, very enjoyable.

I don't know what it is, but I just love the coconut jones dogs beers. Pipeworks gets it right with how the coconut stars in the taste, but also compliments the rich chocolate truffle, vanilla, and various malts. Smell is not as expressive, but coconut does still shine through with the vanilla especially. Feel is cool, malty, full but not heavy, sweet but not insanely so, and very smooth. Hides the boozes decently, but leakage here and there as it warms.

Can dates July 30 poured into a Bcbs snifter. Highly carbonated for a milk stout, effervescent sounds throughout, light lacing. As it warms, I catch much of the vanilla, virtually no coconut and slight cacao.

16oz can, date stamped 7/30/19. Near black body with a thin tan head. Aroma is somewhat muted but coconut and cocoa come through a bit. Bolder sweeter flavors of dark chocolate, cacao nib, coconut, lactose, vanilla, caramel, and booze. Velvety smooth body, thick and creamy, ample carbonation, booze is warming but not hot, sweet through the finish. Good beer as expected!

This is yet another really solid beer from pdubs. Big and sticky sweet with a nice mix of flavors from the adjuncts and the base beer. I am yet to have a bad beer from pipeworks and I have had my fair share. Notes of chocolate, coconut, vanilla, dark roast and malty sweetness.

Picked up this 16 oz. can during a ribald weekend in late September Chicago, my only complaint being that there was not enough time, money, & energy to pick up all the great beer we saw.
Pours on the darker spectrum of black (my wife insists there are no shades of black, to which I say phhhhhffft) with a head that quickly stores down to nothing. There are big old floaties that I’m assuming are coconut flecks banding together like stray bits to form supercoconut flavors (I hope). The nose is chocolate & coconut, beer, not so much.
Imperial Coconut Jones Dog is that rare beer you must floss after drinking. Yes, the floatie islands are that big & yes, they’re coconut (I grabbed one & chewed it). This beer is mostly coconut, all the time, especially when imbibing small chunks of one, but it makes for an uneven experience: one mouthful of exploding coconut flavor, the next soft coconut, cocoa, coconut, vanilla, with a finish of coconut. There’s an aggressive fusel note in the finish that I do not associate with milk stouts or any of the adjuncts. The mouthfeel is bizarre. Bits of solid, the aforementioned harsh alcohol notes, with a lovely smoothness from the coconut & vanilla. Bloody easy to sip on & if it weren’t for that sharp alcohol tang, would be close to perfect.
I tried to get coconut in every sentence describing the taste but didn’t quite make it. Judging this to style, it’s stylistic disaster on par with Miley Cyrus covering Bad Religion, but by taste, it’s beautiful. Excellent beer that’s one fusel note away from being truly top tier.
