Notes / Commercial Description:
Glaucus is the mythological existence of a being, both man and fish, a deity amongst mere mortals. The only beer fitting of such a name marries bold, spicy Belgian yeast with bright, citric American hops in a way even the gods adore. This golden brew can calm even the harshest seas. It's been awhile since we've brewed this beer, and we couldn't be happier that it's back.

The great look of the can matches the supreme taste of this Belgian IPA. Was a little skeptical after seeing these IPA's popping up all around but these guys did a great job. Smooth taste and really a great bodied beer. Perfect execution!

for american made versions of the style, this is a type of beer that is more often done poorly than it is done well, but its one i love and keep seeking. this is a delightfully high quality and delicious example of what good belgian ipa can taste like, and its decidedly american in nature, despite the yeast. golden bright honey colored, clear and heady, bubbly and screaming "drink me up". it smells like a floral strain of belgian yeast, clover or honey or even dandelion, very intriguing less fruity, a little bitter. the hops are juicy and bright too, even a little sweet in their oils, and dosed heavily. in the flavor, the hops are equally as pronounced as the yeast, and work to flavor this beer not just in the finish, but from the second it hits the tongue, offering big bold pineapple and orange notes, average bitterness, and a dry bite that brings out the yeast a bit. its robustly flavorful and really deliciously unique as they go. i like the yeast not being too fruity or gummy, and i like the high carbonation. this is a year round type of beer, and its awesome with all kinds of food. its been too long since ive had an american made belgian ipa this good, so glad it has come to colorado!

Hazy yellow with a huge head. Lacing forms shapes on the glass with each sip. Wonderful, spicy, herbal yeast character compliments the dank, sticky, grassy hop in aroma and flavor. Feel is somewhat light and watery with a semi dry finish. Excellent.

A- A tallboy reveals a fairly hazy golden yellow brew into a tall chalice. Upon that brew a massive, several finger head rises quickly with seemingly infinite retention. Lace forms in thick and plentiful webs that protrude off the glass several millimeters.

S- Big Belgian and big hops. The two intertwine quite well with the yeast brining spiciness of pink peppercorns, straw and pale fruits. Marrying this are hop hints of tangerine, tropical fruits, berries and floral arrangements. Overall quite zesty and spicy.

T- The story here is about both strong yeast and plenty of hops. The yeast is spicy, bready and fruity as notes of peppercorns, cooking herbs, fresh yeast bread, white vinous grapes and cooking spices come to mind. The hops provide a balance with floral, tangerine, orange, herbal, tea and spicy hints of their own.

MF- Creamy and even a bit chewy. The frothy consistency is joined by a very high end carbonation which provides some crisp and smooth feel to the experience. Finishes with a zesty and spicy hop bitterness.

I feel like I have been saying this forever but the partnership of Belgian yeast and bold hops is still, even in 2016, underused and like a frontier for amazing beer. Fruity and floral hops marry assertive Belgian yeast with precision.
