Appearance: a slightly burnt orange color with a cloudy appearance. Very thin head. Some nice carbonation. Not much lacing and I enjoyed this brew out of a goblet shaped glass.
Smell: A really pleasant hop presence which is evened out very well by the yeast. The biscuit accents in the aroma are playing in harmony with the bright citrus. The hops are probably the biggest player but allow many of the other factors to be contributors.
Taste: Hops splash the palette right away at the front. Bright and wonderful, these hops bring a sweetness which makes the drinker think of tropical fruits and honey. The yeast can be found more in the body of the brew which is a little light and would be my only gripe about the taste. 8% abv is no where to be found. The sweetness finds its way back in the aftertaste, to my surprise. I expected a more dry hop/yeast aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: Very smooth, incredibly drinkable. There is a slightly tacky/sticky feeling on the palette but for the most part this brew leaves a very clean palette behind.
Overall: Excellent brew, Pipeworks has continued to impress me with each beer I buy. The belgian IPA style has also exponentially grown on me recently, I've enjoyed both of the best aspects of the styles. I could see myself drinking this beer all day on a warm summer day or warming myself up on a cold night. Very versatile beer. Very awesome beer.
