Really dark brown with a small light mocha string, leaving pretty lacing on the glass.
Slices of sweet oranges smothered in chocolate on the nose, a really nice contrast, backed by rich roasted malt, light dark fruit, extra cocoa powder with a light alcoholic kick. Faint vanilla and coffee.
Rich chocolate and raw cocoa beans in the taste, with a really nice citrus zestiness. A bit of boozy plum and raisin. Roasted malts, kept from being too heavy by the orange zest, but bringing nice coffee notes. Vanilla, licorice and some American hop to close it up. Light roast, not ashy.
Aftertaste has cocoa and coffee powder, overripe orange pulp, hop. Medium bodied, medium carbonated, slightly smooth.
A surprisingly refreshing imperial stout, great zesty-chocolatey mix, really tasty, really complex.

Pours black as night with a finger layer of thick tan foam.

Heavy oragne/citrus, chocolate, vanilla, and coffee notes.

Heavy roasted notes, coffee, vanilla, and orange.

Heavy-bodied, light-medium carbonation, roasty bitterness, fruity, thin.

Overall, the orange aroma and flavor is off, just something odd about it, the thin mouthfeel doesn't help either.

Not much orange truffle. Hints of orange but tastes more like a belgian than a stout. A little blue moon like even

22 oz bomber, snifter

A – Pretty much black, with only the faintest brown highlights. Barely a trace of some light tan head, what’s there has zero retention. Slightly thin in appearance.

S – Roasted, bitter malt. Maybe a hint of fruit but hard to pick out much orange or anything specific. Some dark chocolate comes through as the beer warms. A bit of earthy hops far, far in the background.

T – Definitely picking up some of the orange peel here, though I would not consider it prominent. Chocolate and roasted malt flavors, some sweeter chocolate flavor, are the stars. Hops are hidden.

M – Very thin, with low carbonation, though a certain silkiness is there throughout. A decent balance of sweetness and bitterness.

O – Not a bad beer at all, but a bit thin for the style. A bit more carbonation and a little stronger on the orange peel, and this would have satisfied the expectations I had coming in and brought the beer as a whole up a notch. As is, it doesn’t differentiate from similar offerings.
