Chai Dog, a spiced Imperial Milk Stout with vanilla and chocolate, is our answer to the chai tea. It's a rich, silky brew with a fragrant kick from the green cardamom, ginger, and anise. It's been a while since we've made this complex and balanced milk stout, and it's returned is like receiving a visit from a globe-trotting friend.

22oz bottle. This imperial milk stout from Pipeworks features the unique chai spices integrated into a delicious milk stout base. After drinking, I was shocked to learn this brew was 10% ABV. The warmth is very well hidden. Great beer!

Labels says batch #680, which is from April, 2015 (http://pdubs.net/batch/). 22oz bottle opened late March, 2016 -- so it has almost a year of age on it -- and poured into Pipeworks snifters.
It has a tiny amount of head, no lacing, and a gritty look to the legs.
Smell is spicy, full of ginger and cardamom.
Flavor is similar, but with a sweetness alongside. Even with a year of age on it, the spice has a bite to it. There's plenty of chocolate and some vanilla, but the spice is still dominant.
Mouthfeel is good, despite the low carbonation. It's soft and creamy.
Overall, it delivers well on what it promises: it's a chai-spiced, sweet milk stout.

22 oz. bottle, Batch #680. My first time trying this one from Pipeworks. "Imperial milk stout with cacao, vanilla, and spices added".
Poured into a clear balloon snifter.
A - Pours a deep dark chocolate, opaque in the glass, with one finger of dark dark mocha head. Leaves scattered spotty lacing behind.
S - The aroma definitely has a very authentic chai spice to it. Herbal, earthy, & leafy, with some notes of licorice / anise noticeable.
T - The taste is very fudgey, cakey, and chocolatey. The vanilla mostly melds with the cacao. Creamy, but the spicing isn't my favorite. Not sure I would know there was cinnamon in this if I wasn't told beforehand.
M - The feel is very smooth & creamy. Slightly on the thick side of things; medium-full bodied with good carb.
Overall, not the best stout I've had from Pipeworks, but still very good, and I would definitely say they achieved what they were going for, but the spicing doesn't really do a lot for me.

Maybe this appeals to some people but to me it is way overly sweet. This is by far away the most dissapointing beer I have had from Pipeworks.
