I just did this as a "had" but after refilling my glass to kill the bomber, this is an awesome beer!
Poured into a Stone RIS snifter.
Appearance is a perfect dark gold/orange hue with moderate head. Lacing is consistently there as the glass gets low.
Aroma is purely outstanding! Citrus (duh) and loads of hops. Damn!
Flavor echos the aroma...fucking-a!!! Even my wife, a RIS fan, had to agree that this is a fantastic beer.
Enjoyable through and through.
My only complaints are that they don't distribute to Nor Cal (thanks totalbangover!) and that my glass is empty.
If you see this, grab it!!!

Only a few days young - batch 206

PW DIPA's are traditionally great looking beers.. not this one as much. Pours a brownish amber and yields a very minimal, fizzy head. The aroma is made up of a variety of tropical 'clear' fruit juices - mango, orange, lemon/lime, and assorted tropical. There is a sticky resin note and a decent biscuit malt backbone. Very fruit-juice forward, but not defined. The resin really cuts through the fruit taste-wise. I can definitely tell this is from galaxy-land.

Very interesting to try a new single hop NvU beer, and a unique one all the better. Good not great

Hazy golden orange body. Off white head with ok retention but leaves behind little lacing.

NIce fruity aroma of apricot, blood orange, and grapefruit. Pine to a much lesser extent then a little tutti frutti.

The flavor has more of the apricot and grapefruit with some tropical fruit, papaya, maybe mango. The finish leaves traces of bubble gum.

Slightly sweet in my mouth but leaves my tongue bitter.

Another fine Ninja from Pipeworks. This is my first adventure with the Australian Summer hop and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Batch # 206/7/8

a: dark copper. frothy, offwhite 2 finger head.

s: Citrusy, tropical (mostly graepfruit/mango) hops. toasted caramel maltiness. some honey.

t: Some citrusy hops (mild) but seems to be overwhelmed with caramel maltiness, earthy backbone.

m: medium body, low carbonation bordering on flat. Finishes slightly dry.

o: Fairly disappointing ninja effort from Pipeworks. Malts way too pronounced for a Ninja imo. Carbonation seems off (i.e., too low). As for the hop presence, eh, Australia can keep this one.

A 22oz bottle in a BIF box from Vonerichs which just came in. Batch number(s) 206/7/8

A: Dark caramel coloring with a hazy body around the edges. Plenty of lacing.

S: Solid, two-tone with a rich malty note I wasn't expecting in an IIPA. Also pounds out a loud citrus note.

T: Is much maltier than expected, but in reviewing old reviews here this seems to be the case. There are reviews for this batch from early September of this year, so I wouldn't chalk the malt-forward flavor to age and it feels intentional. Fine to drink - but certainly runs against the grain.

M: Top notch. A bit too much bitter aftertaste to run a perfect "5"

I'd drink more of these in the late summer early fall for certain, although the 9.5% means probably not too many in one sitting.

Quick review from written notes.

Saturated color of reddish orange, slightly hazy with frothy surface foam, clustered larger bubbles and spotty lace, okay coverage.

Funky onion/leek aroma at first, later some slight citrus emerges from the dank pungent greenery.

Tangerine, green piney bitterness, big malty backbone, lightly buttery. Full bodied, medium low carbonation, sticky on the lips. A pretty big DIPA that's probably best shared, it's somewhat malt forward with an interesting hop profile.

Batch 206/7/8. Poured in to tulip.

A - Cloudy deep orange; almost opaque. Thin layer of off white head.

S - Beautiful tropical fruit aroma. Mango, peach, pineapple and a hint of grapefruit.

T - Burst of fresh tropical fruit. Mango, pineapple, passion fruit, tangerine. Moderate bitterness with a perfect caramel/honey malt sweetness.

M - Medium body. Oily & resinous. Light carbonation.

1 PINT, 6 FL. OZ bottle
Served in a teku glass

A - It pours a murky orange/amber color. I have never seen an IPA that I could not see through at least a little. This has all kinds of suspended yeast in it. It is topped with three inches of beige head.

S - I get a floral and citrus combination in the aroma. I get a little tea, as well.

T - The first thing I taste is the floral hops. Then some of the citrus flavors come into play with a bitter grapefruit finish.

M - Medium and a little chalky.

O - This was a good IPA. I have either loved or disliked DIPA's from Pipeworks so far. I loved Ninja vs. Unicorn. I like this one.
