Not sure a DIPA can look better...unfiltered, golden-yellow and big, foamy, white head. Nose and flavor are very pungent...strong tropical fruit, resin, and just plain old sticky hops! Very drinkable, smooth, and a bomber gives a good buzz so it's quite boozy. I was seriously surprised by Idletyme so I can't be surprised about this...very, very good!

This was the third of three new biers I tried during a visit to Crop on 20AUG15 with Alewife. Served in a small tulip, ~12oz or so, for $6.50.

Poured a muted, hazy golden color, with a fluffy, white, 3/4" head. Foam lasted well, the lacing was solid, and the carbo was slow and scattered. Liked the nose, which was piney with rindy citrus. Body was a good medium, and it was pretty easy going on the tongue.

Flavor led off with a touch of lightly toasty malt, but that faded fast. It had a healthy amount of pithy bitter hopping, with grapefruit and lemonpeel being detected. Not world-class, but quite tasty; the best of what I've had at Crop so far. Prosit!!

Consumed 9/12/15

A: Pours lightly hazy, medium orange at its core with some tangerine and honey around the edges - medium sized, white head, gradually fades to a wispy cap, leaves an average collar and some nice streaks and spots of lacing

S: Juicy and fruity hops, with some light, grainy sweetness - floral, straight-up flowery citrus - orange and grapefruit flesh, zest - light pine and some resinous aromas - tropical aromas, fresh melon and mango - pale malts, light bread, light sweetness

T: Juicy citrus with some balance - flowery, zesty citrus - orange and grapefruit, with a lot of sweeter ruby red grapefruit - fleshy and juicy, with some pith - spicy citrus - pine and some sticky resin, light herbal flavors - melon, mango, and some underripe pineapple - moderate bitterness - pale malts, light bread, light biscuits, touch of caramel- a light sweetness overall, like a pinch of sugar on a grapefruit that works surprisingly well

M: On the full side of medium, smooth, lightly oily, finishes mostly clean

O: I was hoping this sucked so my review could be "Not quite my tempo"

I picked this up because I have seen Crop bottles on a number of occasions, and I heard good things about Idletyme. I think I actually meant to pick up Idletyme instead of Doubletyme... but that is beside the point. This is rather good.

From the 650 ml. bottle. 2015 batch and sampled on October 15, 2015.

The color of the pour is a cloudy light to medium amber with a delicate and soft cream colored head that lingers.

Herbal, tropical, and some floral hops are the first sensations on the nose.

The body is about medium but on the smooth side.

I really taste the herbal and tropical hop flavors but a he toasted malt character unveils itself underneath as I work my way through the bottle. Still ends bitter. Nice drinking.

Great job here. Aroma of clean citrusy hops with a slight vegetal backing. Taste remarkably smooth for abv, highlighting mellow grapefruit and mango. Juicy but still relatively crisp. Up there with the better hoppy beers I've had in VT.

Apricot pour with a frothy finger of bone white head, nice looking beer.

Muted citrus and pine, prominent sweet malt.

Flavor a slight improvement over the nose, moderate juiciness but sort of muddled, this seems like one of two things: this beer showcases the malt bill, or it is an older bottle as there is no date, which is becoming more important to today's IPA consumer. My general rule is: no date, no sale.

There is a low amount of carbonation and it has an oily feel to it that isn't entirely unpleasant.

Was hoping for more from this one as I enjoyed their Pale Ale & IPA quite a bit. It sure would be nice to see some bottle dating like Foley's and Frost Beer Works have been doing on their bombers.
