No dinner is complete without dessert, so why don't we see our drinking session in the same way? Maybe not the main course, the the finishing course at Country Boy Brewing has to do with and English inspired brown ale but with generous additions of both caramel and salt for a sweet and savory session.

Medium bark brown and capped with a foamy sepia blanket, Salted Caramel Amos Moses rolls onto the senses with a savory sweet scent of chocolate, nuttiness, coffee, caramel and cream. Sweet on the early palate, the natural malt flavors of caramel and toffee shine with elements of chocolate to suggest something of whopper's malted milk candies.

But the sweetness deepens and layers onto a bed of caramel and butterscotch for a rich, savory and sweeter middle palate. A moderate taste of coffee and toasted pecan add an earthy edge to balance the sweetness. Broad and woodsy hops frame the finish with a tinge of bitterness that aids in that balance. A mild salinity provides a rounded late palate with a juicy and fuller flavor to caramel, chocolate and toffee.

Medium full in body, the beer's body is light enough for drinkability although its savory and sweeter taste suggests that it's best enjoyed as a sipper, much like a fuller bodied beer would be. Somewhat guilt free, this brown ale will happily satisfy the most demanding sweet tooth as a replacement for dessert.
