Fairly mediocre as far as imperial bourbon barrel stouts go - the coconut infusion is subtle enough to have little influence on the overall product... Has typical chocolate malt, barrel wood, and vanilla and coffee-like influences, some drying on the finish, medium-bodied, smooth; moderately bitter and sweet ("bittersweet" lol)... Nothing wrong with it, but nothing particularly special either...

I plan on having one Oil Man version a day, starting with coconut today, coffee tomorrow, and finishing with the vanilla after that, and reviewing them respective to one another as well as to the style...

Poured into a Trillium glass a pretty nice dark brown/black color, pretty nice carbonation, with a pretty nice thick/creamy one-finger tan head, which leaves some nice creamy sticky lacing behind. The nose is malty, hoppy, with a nice touch of chocolate, toffee, a nice touch of vanilla, licorice, nice touch of bourbon, some coconut. The taste is really nice, malty, hoppy, with some pretty nice chocolate/toffee, very nice touch of vanilla, licorice, very nice touch of bourbon, some coconut, really nice sweetness. Full Body, ABV is hidden pretty well, a pretty nice complex brew, a pretty nice sipper. Overall, this one is pretty taste. Nice to see it around here.

750ml bottle $16.49? This beer looks just like oil man. Really no coconut or bourbon barrel in the aroma and that is disappointing. Same thing with the flavor, no coconut and no barrel. It is fine as an imperial stout but when I pay $17 and the label says bourbon barrel then I expect some bourbon barrel.

Tar black body, thick, sticky, spongy head; thick sheets of foam adhering to the inside of the glass. Huge charred grain aroma; some malt sweetness; dark roast coffee beans. Milk chocolate and anise flavors; boozy; spicy, suggestions of cinnamon. Heavy, oily body; chewy; sweet offset with an alcohol edge.

I can't say I notice any real coconut presence with this beer, but man-oh-man, what a beast of an imperial stout. The bottle label indicates the beer was aged in bourbon barrels. That element is definitely noticeable, adding a nice depth to things and rounding out the heavy sweetness with just the right note of boozy presence. A fine monster...
