I have consumed several beers from this brewery. I am sipping on a traditional IPA with citrus-style hops. I am using a belcher pint glass, and the temperature is 44 degrees. I am concerned the beer is a low fill. The pour created a frothy and airy two-fingered white head with above-averaged retention. The slow dissipation left a massive amount of lacing on the glass. Examining the color of the beer, charting around SRM 6, a golden yellow. The clarity is clear and brilliant, with some carbonation activity. The appearance is above average.
Nosing the beer, I smell floral, grapefruit, pine needles, malty sweetness, tangerines, and a touch of grass. Smelling the beer a couple more times, I detect a lightly toasted bread. The aromas are muted, thus taking a while to figure out what is inside.
The flavors shine in this IPA. Grapefruit, tangerine, orange peel, pine resin, a hint of grass, floral esters, a malty sweetness, and toasted bread crust.
The mouthfeel is astringent and finishes crisp and dry. The body is medium-plus with medium carbonation.
A classic IPA with citrus hops. A well-crafted beer where the hops shine. A Fantastic beer helps bring the heat down on a hot September day.
