Style: American Porter

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.00%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Named after one of our favorite ski runs at Monarch Mountain, Little Mo’ oozes aromas of chocolate, coffee and light floral hops. The palate hits with chocolate and coffee notes, balanced with a subtle bitterness. With a medium mouthfeel, the lingering sweetness from this malt forward beer will have you asking for just a Little Mo’!

Big earthy aroma hits right off; bittersweet chocolate and coffee grounds scents, too, emanating from a near pitch black body and thick, foamy head. Taste and feel are rich, deep, and silky smooth;

An excellent porter that keeps the malts and hop components at the front-end of things. Well-balanced and immensely complex. If big roasted grain flavors with strong chocolate and vanilla tones combined with a good bitterness to keep the sweetness in check are what you're looking for in a dark ale, definitely give this beer a try.

16 oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a thin tan head that quickly goes to a thin collar.

The aroma is rich chocolate and some grains.

The flavor is sweet grainy chocolate and caramel malts with some roast bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is a bit thin bodied with low carbonation.

Overall, a solid roasted grainy chocolate porter. A bit thin.

Little Mo' – Robust Porter (6.5%) - Elevation Brewing Co. (Colorado)
☆☆ ½

App: Pours a beautiful opaque black with a lively tan head that settles slowly, leaving residual bubbles and a surprising amount of lacing. A tasty looking brew.

Smell: Dry roasted backbone with subtle hints of milk chocolate. Overall bouquet is subdued, but pleasant. Mild hints of high esters. Very slight smoke aroma.

Taste: Predominantly sweet with perhaps too much alcohol. Roasted flavors associated with Porter style somewhat underrepresented. Instead, this brew has subtle milk chocolate flavors, but isn't strong enough to overcome the alcohol which hits first and persists. Flavors skate across the tongue and leave an unpleasant aftertaste.

Mouth: Thin bodied with light carbonation. Watery, and a slightly astringent.

Home tasting, 16.9oz bottle into Snifter. 10/8/14.

4 is a clear dark brown with a half inch of a white head. The nose is of roasted malt with light coffee notes. The taste is nice. Malty and roasty with balance. A pretty good porter with a dry finish.
