Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.00%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
This beer is named for the first few moments of joy you get as you begin a great day of fishing on the river. As well, it was our ‘first cast’ into the fantastic Colorado beer scene! Using nearly 2 pounds of hops per barrel, this well balanced IPA has huge notes of grapefruit, citrus and pine, making it our everyday beer of choice.

Love anything Elevation. Had this beer recently in keystone, CO on tap and it was slightly better than bottles. Maybe freshness was a bit of an issue? Still, I'll rate it according to the draft beer I had.

L: dark gold, slight hues of orange. Not perfectly clear. Mild carbonation.

S: Earth, and a bit of peppery citrus or floral notes.

T: nicely balanced, not a bitter or hop bomb whatsoever. Fairly malty for an American ipa. The hop notes are floral and earthy. The hop blend is published (which I love) and is pretty unique. dont' know that I've tried too many IPA's with Zythos used. the malt is biscuit and bready, not overly caramel or sweet.

F: Slick, oily, a bit soapy.

O: This one is tasty overall, and is pretty balanced. I like the unique ingredients. If this one was a bit more dry and "clean", I think it would go a long ways towards drinkability. I wouldn't drink a bunch of these in one sitting, but it is tasty nonetheless. Their 7437 IPA is worlds above in quality and taste, but still a noble effort.

Poured from a bottle with a bottled on date of 1/13/17; into a pint glass.
Appearance- hazy gold with slight carbonation bubbles that maintain a thin white head. Lacing is decent.
Smell - pale malts, pepper and pine needles.
Taste - flavor profile equal to the notes in the nose.
Feel - a touch heavier than most IPA's; bitter but with a strong malt base.
Overall - malt forward IPA for the most part.

Today is 9-23-16, and this beer was bottled on 9-12-16...Wow. I live in Colorado so it makes sense that I get this beer so damn fresh. Man, this beer has a really dank aroma. Dank, dank, and tropical fruit up front. I really like this beer a lot. Great head retention, beautiful golden color, and perfect bitterness at 60 ibu's. A decent malt backbone to this beer as well. Overall, I truly enjoy this IPA. Just the dank, heavy aroma is absolutely satisfying me. Great beer.

16 oz. Bottle
Bottled On: 02/13/15

Pours a pretty nice slightly cloudy dark golden yellow color, nice carbonation, with a small off-white head, which leaves some sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, malty, with some citrus notes. The taste is pretty nice hoppy, malty, with some nice citrus notes. Medium body, with a nice little dry/bitter finish. Overall, still a pretty tasty brew, even though the age of it. Would have been nice to have some a lot fresher.
