A warm orange color, great clarity, nice white head, easily brought back to life.

Aroma is a mixture of piney and citrusy hops, some grapefruit notes, great aromatics, no fermentation off flavors or malt aromas.

Great level of carbonation with a solid mouth feel and medium body.

Malt backbone supports the bitter finish.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a murky amber. Aroma has sweet caramel, dank hops, pine. Huge hops in the taste: grapefruit, mango, pine. Bitter, astringent finish. A very good DIPA.

Picked up a single from Craft Beer hop stop and Late July for $2.99. Bottle Date May 19th 2016. Beer poured golden with a nice white head on the initial pour and has some pretty good Hang Time. Nose is tropical and citrusy, very nice! Taste is of peaches, mango, and some grapefruit and a very light hop finish. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied very smooth. Overall I was quite impressed with this beer. Definitely would do this one again!

Bought in Denver as a single. Bottled 03/01/2016 and opened 03/29/2016.

Lightly hazy copper tinged gold with minimal head from a soft pour. A swirl brings back a thin compact layer of off white foam.

Aroma is sharp, herbal, and zesty. Like mashed-up late summer Colorado prairie weeds, flowers, and sage. A little pine sap and seasoning salt.

The hops in the flavor (and there are LOTS of them) follow the nose taking a more herbal, spicy, grassy avenue than citrus or evergreen. There is a nice resinous quality to the flavor, lasting all the way to the last instant the beer is in the mouth. This all out focus on hop power is a classic DIPA quality and is done well. Malt is way way in the back seat, which isn't how I like my regular "drinking" IPAs, but what I expect from a beer brazenly labeled double IPA. Solid and well done flavor.

The mouthfeel has some nice weight in terms of pure "hop nectar" quality, but isn't syrupy. Carbonation seems to be average.

Conclusion: I much prefer DIPAs which focus more on evergreen or citrus flavored hops, but this one takes a different track and does it wonderfully. This is a good beer, and my personal preference in hop varietals doesn't affect my score based on the skill with which this beer was constructed. I love Colorado beer.

12 ounce bottle into a tulip. Botttled 6-3-15. I'm delighted to see a big DIPA like this in a 12 ounce bottle, the perfect serving size, and much more useful than the 750 ml that was previously the only bottled version of this beer.

Golden orange with some head. Nice appearance, not remarkable. The aroma is citrus hoppy. The taste is the big deal here ... a nice mix of citrus flavors, a little sweetness (not much) and maltiness, and a moderate amount of bitterness. The hop flavors are varied, and quite interesting. It's a beer that benefits a lot from warming - I waited a while after taking it from the fridge, but it was still better 15 minutes after I began drinking it.

Overall, this is one of the better DIPAs I've had ... not quite in Pliny territory, but very very good.
