Notes:
Raspberry Chocolate Stout
This black beauty lures you in with her nuanced aromatics and balance of luscious raspberry and unadulterated cherry. She’ll tantalize your senses, while caressing your palate with subtle hints of vanilla and the voluptuous full-bodied finish of decadent dark chocolate. She’s built for speed, and for comfort.

Pours pitch black with a small foamy head. Head retention and lacing are good. Aroma a mixture of cherry and raspberry.with some slightly roasted malts. Smells a little medicinal. The taste is more medicinal cherry. Someone said Robitussin, and I agree. Medium bodied with mild carbonation.

Poured into a tulip glass and it built a small 1/4" inch lacy head, but quickly dissipates to a light ring about the glass. The color is opaque and dark black and there is no way you can see effervescence. The smell has a light floral scent of fruit...with the fruit being a blend of cherry and a berry (buffalo bayou label stated aromatics of cherry and raspberry) ... which when tasting the beer the raspberry comes into mind as there is a slight tartness. The feel is smooth and leaves no lingering afterthoughts other than a dark chocolate brew with cherry and berry. Overall the taste, color, fragrance and feel is balanced and pleasant. It is a quality beer and the 'Black Raz' is true to its label description. This bomber bottle (1 pint, 6 fl oz) was bottled in 2015. Tasted in early August 2015. Opened from the refrigerator and it slowly warmed during the tasting .... with a pleased beer advocate review.

way too sugary for me. tastes like a scoop of confectioner's sugar was dumped into beer. kind of a fine, chalky mouthfeel too.

On tap at several places around Houston. It is about time I put my thoughts down...
A: Pours a dark black color, nearly opaque. A large foamy tan head rises, and eventually recedes to a ring with plenty of lace.
S: Syrupy, medicinal, Robitussin aromas. Not a lot of roast, and a minimal amount of chocolate in the background.
T: Again, this is about as medicinal as anything I have had in a while. Robitussin, children's cough syrup. A bit of baked bread and chocolate in the background. Which almost makes this palatable. Though right when I am getting comfortable, the medicinal quality takes over again. Arg.
M/D: A medium to full body. Well carbonated, and fairly smooth. The syrupy character is a bit much after a while though. While the alcohol is well hidden, it is just not something I am going to be getting much of anymore.
I tried this several times, seeing if I kept getting that big medicinal character. Which I did. Not a fan of this one.
