This beer is brewed in homage to all the gingerbread men and women who lost their gumdrop buttons in the war against child sadness. Brewed with cinnamon, nutmeg, clove and ginger, memories of gingerbread cookies fresh out of the oven flood your mind while this spicy and robust brew floods your palate.

Sweet, creamy, slightly roasty stout with big nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves on the nose. Surprisingly easy-going mouthfeel.

The pour resulted in an absolutely dark body with a dark tan head with a few freckles and here and there around the center. The aroma was smooth, mildly chocolatey with stronger gingerbread and yeasty tones in the foreground. The taste was smooth, light with a well blended mix of gingerbread, cinnamon( this may have been just my memories of Christmas with my father when he would bake gingerbread cookies for us as kids), slightly bready and warm. There were no main alcohol, phenol or ester flavors, but the after taste was just dancing with a mild chorus of esters, phenols, tartness and mild alcohol. The cloves, sugar, cinnamon, honey and molasses flavors really come out in the aftertaste. Overall a really pleasing beer to relax to during this freezing weather in South Texas!

Had this fresh in 2015 for a Christmas treat - bottle share with my FIL
From the 22oz bottle purchased at Craft & Growler in Dallas, TX - dated Nov 2015

Snifter glass

I thought this one does a nice job at capturing that Gingerbread likeness for sure. I get loads of spiced molasses cookie here and this is pretty ginger forward which looks to be polarizing for some. Other flavors play more of a supporting role to the ginger snap. Modest dark roast, light caramel malt sweetness, suggestions of dark fruits and baked bread. Approachable body, not all that thick really with some sticky residual linger on the palate. Warming alcohol. Dark brownish-blackened color with a dark tan foam ring and low lace count.

Delivers as advertised without getting too wonky. Nice for a Holiday brew but not something I can see myself drinking larger quantities of.

22 fl oz bottle sealed with pressure cap.

poured into a pair of HF wine stems.

Appearance: black body with medium brown head.

Smell: chocolate, nutmeg, and gingerbread.

Taste: Lots of nutmeg and gingerbread cookies. Light milk chocolate profile that still reminds you that you are drinking a stout.

Mouthfeel: medium body with moderate carbonation levels. No booze noted

Overall: Reminds me of hardwood gingerbread stout. Hardywood makes their version a little better, but this is still pretty tasty Christmas theme stout.

Pours black with a decent stout head.
Smells of nutmeg spice and ginger, a hint of some dark fruit.
Taste is gingerbread cookie like no other gingerbread beer I've had before. This almost nails the gingerbread stout thing. Now the gingerbread thing it DOES nail.
It feels light and fluffy, nice, yet not so thick when swished.
The only issue with the taste is the generous amount of ginger, and the hint of vegetable on the back-end. Not too bad in the latter regard because the spice kick at the end covers any big off-flavor. It still tastes like the cookie.
My ideal gingerbread stout would be sweeter and more of a milk stout, with a tad less ginger, more alcohol, nearly equal spice and nitro-bottled.
That's asking for too much, so this will have to do for now.

Stouts are normally to strong for me but this one is good. It isn't to bitter; it didn't have to much going on; and (mainly) it tasted good. You can definitely tell why it is call gingerbread stout; it smells and has the back taste of a gingerbread cookie.
