Style: American Double / Imperial IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 9.10%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
Surprisingly balanced and drinkable given its stats. While most American Double IPAs use West Coast citrus hops, we went with old world noble hops to give it a floral, grassy bouquet and then punish you with Warrior hops.

DO NOT ASK FOR WHOM THE COWBELL TOLLS. THE COWBELL TOLLS FOR THEE.

Serving: 16 oz can (canned "01/31") poured into a Spiegelau IPA glass.

Appearance: Clear, golden amber with visible effervescence and a billowing head of fluffy white foam that leaves terrific pattern of lace.

Smell: Bright aroma of pine needles, citrus zest, and honeydew melon.

Taste: Relatively lean as a DIPA, balancing malt between bready and caramel, with lime rind, pine resin, and slightly dank,
grassy notes. Healthy herbal bitterness lingers through the close. 9% ABV is barely betrayed by subtle warmth.

Mouthfeel: Lighter medium body with abundant but soft carbonation.

Overall: Very drinkable, balanced DIPA with enjoyable pine and citrus hop notes, good bitter streak, and very unassuming ABV.

A- Pours a golden orange with a thick off white head that doesn't dissipate.

S- Sweet citrus, nice hop aroma. Some pineapple.

T- Mmmmm. More citrus. Maybe some blood orange? Hop bitterness on the back of the pallet.

M- Dry, and slightly astringent. Light carbonation.

D- A decent IPA from a solid brewery.

another random texas brew from the beerliner guys, thanks again for the sweet hookup! i liked this one quite a bit, and commend their choice to go with some more subtle old world hops, and then dose them like crazy. as a result, the bitterness is much softer in this clear golden brew, and there is a little grain sweetness that comes through a little earlier than it does in most of these. it also is cool because it almost seems delicate for the style, more than just grassy, its got hints of lime and even kiwiw fruit to it, drizzled in honey, and just slightly sharp in the finish. more nuanced than many, and i like it for that. it seemed almost more like a strong pale ale without the usual hoppiness, and the sweetness that it finishes with limited drinkability to one can per session for me. not to say i dont like it, i really appreciate its uniqueness, its just hard to drink too much of, especially with the alcohol showing through in the middle. warms up nicely though, and is a solid introduction to these guys. looks like they have some pretty cool beers in their lineup!

16oz can poured into a tulip

A- pours a golden peach color with a one-finger creamy white head that retains long after the pour

S- piney hops, faint hints of grass and citrus, sugary sweet malt

T- piney and earthy hop bite up front with some faint citrus notes, sugary sweet malt mid-palate, boozy finish

M- medium bodied with medium biting carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel and boozy finish

O- lots of alcohol throughout with an assertive malt bill that overpowers the hop bitterness a bit

Poured from a 16 oz can into a pint glass. Acquired in a trade.

Pours magnificent hazy bright orange body with a frothy white head.

Smells piney, resinous, caramel, peppery. Taste is muted hops, pine, and a lingering astringent bitterness (crushed aspirin). Mouthfeel is medium body and carbonation.

The bitter to aromatic ratio here is off.. Too much bitter not enough flavor. Lacks balance.

A light orangey brown color hazy with white hefty head. One would mistake this for a summer wheat beer by the look. The smell is brilliant and not heavy giving off floral and piney hops with caramel scents. Initially sweet with caramel malts but follows with bitter but not overpowering grassy and piney bittering hops. I love the aftertaste here. I'm not sure why this one keeps getting low ratings, but I love it personally.
