Many thanks to Beertunes (Terry for the oppoortunity to same this beer.

The pours a fairly dark brown color with pretty decent head retention and lacing. On the nose, this beer is really spice laden, as I get considerable nutmeg, along wth brown sugar and rootbeer. The flavor profile replicates the nose pretty closely, with the underlying spice drying out the moderate sweetness pretty well. There's a hint of cherry as well in this beer, and it all seems to blend in together pretty well in this nicely crafted beer . Mouthfeel is medium bodied, and a fairly long, spice infused infish. Drinkability is pretty good, though I think some short term aging would probably benefit this beer to tame some of the spice in this beer.

While nothing earth shattering, this was a pretty enjoyable beer and one I was very glad to sample. Thanks Terry!

Handsome red-brown brew with plenty of foam in the Aventinus Weissbier glass. Pleasantly sudsy in the mouth. Full bodied, even for a strong dark Belgian ale. Pleasant fruity aromatics.

Sweet, though not as syrupy as the Eisbock I just had. The Belgian yeast gives it a drying effect after a few sips. Robust and woodsy with a massive caramel attack. Some raisiny flavors but it's mostly the roasted malt.

This is Bishop's Tipple or the Stumbling Monk, for sure. Sweet and deadly, but with a bitter edge. From the 16 oz can purchased at Kulshan Brewery in Bellingham.

This review is based on the first time I had the beer, but I've had it several times since and the review will reflect that. Served in tulip (also in straight pint glass and 16oz can). Poured a deep, dark, reddish brown color with3/4 inch of tan head that had moderate retention and light lacing.

The aroma was mostly solid malty gran, with some sweetness, and a light stone fruit (plum, dark cherry) scent. The taste was pretty similar, malty, a bit fruity, and with just a hint of yeast spice. The first time I had it (5 tulips) I didn't get much of an alcohol taste. On subsequent tries however, I've noticed the alcohol more on the tongue, and sometimes even a bit of burn.

The body was good, just a bit lighter than I look for in the style. Drinkability is very good, I have consumed multiples of this, on multiple occasions. Overall, a pretty decent brew, especially considering it's the work of three breweries that have three different approaches. Only brewed once, so it's a must try if you see it.
