Beautiful color of copper-tinted amber. Modest foam with swirls of lacing in the big snifter. Aroma of something like grilled pineapple with a big whiff of alcohol.

Flavor of bananas, like some kind of high-octane Hefeweizen. Big, rich malt with some sweetness that stops short of syrupy. Just a touch of the Belgian yeast, though it dries out towards the aftertaste. Less carbonated than I would like, but it has that dark fruity Belgian taste of raisins, a touch of figs, and a little burnt toast.

Brought a growler home from the brewery off Mira Mesa Blvd. Another strange and interesting brew from the tiny brewery that thankfully deviates from the red-blonde-brown-black highway.

September 26th, 2013 - I love Belgian yeasts, but not when the smell comes across like hot glue and hair spray. Heaven's Belgian is a cloudy brew, deep hay gold, and with a whipped cream foam on top, but the smell is bewildering, corrupted with smells of chemicals and some overripe banana. Thankfully, the chemicals don't appear in the flavor (mostly), instead, there's a flavor of butter and braised pear, popcorn and a whole lot of chaos. Like a flatter, sweeter, more confused version of Duvel.
