Formerly known as Liefmans Kriek and Cuvée - Brut.

Liefmans Kriek-Brut is a fresh mature blend which matures over a year and a half, allowing the flavors of wood and almond to become more complex and intense. Kriek-Brut is also a treat to the eye, with its deep brown-red hue, and bold but elegant collar. This luxurious beer balances pure accents with the lightly sweet and gently sour nature of cherries.

750ml bottle poured into a sampling glass.

Pours a clear light brown with a reddish hint and a small white head. Nose is very fruity but still sour.

Taste is really balanced, it's sour but not killer, the fruit is light and balances it out well. Mouthfeel is light and crisp with a nice big mouthfeel. Overall quite good!

330ml bottle from House of Trembling Madness, York (£2.85):
Deep, dark raspberry to purple but almost looking murky brown at first glance; the head is a pink-white colour made of fine bubbles that holds well. The nose is strong with raspberry & cherry dominating with faint biscuit & sugar towards the end. It's very similar with the taste, mainly raspberry & cherry, woke tart & sweet fruits then a slightly zesty finish. Some alcohol shows & its well carbonated with a good balance despite not being overly complex.

375 ml green corked and caged "champagne" bottle, wrapped in red paper, as Liefmans Cuvée Brut, will soon be available at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.0%. Dark red beer, large pinkish-peachy head. Strong and intense aroma of cherries, also notes of almonds and marzipan. The flavour is cherries all the way, medium sweet, not "brut" by any stretch of the mind. At least it is somewhat drier than Liefmans Fruitesse. Just a hint of hops and oak in the finish. Quite good, if you like cherries (and who doesn’t?), and don’t expect a "normal" beer flavour.

Bought this marvelous beer at a grocery store in Richmond, VA over Christmas break - my last beer from that trip!

Pours a beautiful purplish brown color with with a nice purple-pink initial head and good lacing. Very pleasantly fragrant smell of dark cherries. Flavors of cassis, lemon candy, hint of vanilla and oak. Enjoyed it very much with this evening’s dinner!

Poured from 750 mL bottle into cervoise. Stamped 04/2025 on the top.
A: Pours a dark brown with ruby amber hue around the edges with backlighting and a 1/4 inch light tan head which quickly recedes.
S: Interesting combination of fresh and dried cherries. Oak, berries, and hints of vinegar and sugar.
T: Wow! Such a smooth and layered, even complex, cherry note from the blending. At times fresh cherry and other times dried cherries. Oak tannins, berries, and subtle malt sugar and super subtle vinegar, warming spice, and vanilla.
M: Medium body. Cherry and berry sweetness with mildly dry oak tannins. Vinous and slightly juicy feel. Lingers and matures beautifully on the palate.
D: Stupendous for style! Such a wonderful surprise! Seek it out if you can. Simply outstanding.

The strength of this beer is the result of solid blending to achieve just the right balance of funk and cherry. The bruin base is not over malted, as the slight sweet comes from the cherries.

Poured from a 330ml bottle. It has a brownish ruby red body, with a small off-white head.

It has a sweet aroma of fermented cherries, but with slightly unpleasant cattiness.

The taste is sour, with restrained cherry sweetness. The cattiness comes out again in the aftertaste.

Generally I really enjoy cherry beers, but I don't think this is the best example of its style. Nevertheless it's perfectly drinkable.
