Hail SantaHail Santa
Notes: Rye IPA brewed with rye (SURPRISE!). Hopped intensely with Cascade, Citra, Centennial, and Simcoe. Bright and citrusy! Quaff a few in anticipation of Santa’s big visit!

On tap at Sabatinis in Exeter pa earlier this evening.

Looks standard for a NE ipa, hazy yellowish body, bright white head, scattered lacing.

Hoppy aroma, a little dank.

On tasting, the rye aspect gives some spice and dryness.

Mouth above medium, finish drying.
Overall, nice to see a rye ipa, kudos to Tired Hands. Nice beer.

It's another obviously barley malt deprived concoction, which doesn't mean it's bad, but there's limited expectations. First, after the pint can is drained into a clear glass liter mug, there appears the mass of starchy stark white foam on top. Even now, it starts to recede unevenly and unattractively. That's become the unfortunate norm with modern IPAs, which seem to forget barley malt being an integral part of why the style became so popular. The body is opaquely yellow-amber, so there's the assumption that whatever body it has will be oat and rye provided. The aroma is good, almost very good. The hop contribution is a blunted complex combination of resin and fruit. It's nicely dry and bitter, with a distinctly grassy rye contribution There may be no malt to be found, but there is a grainy starchiness within. Unfortunately, the mouthfeel is a little thin in relation to the good hop taste. The hops come across bitterly, but cleanly and without any astringent by product. Without much barley malt, there's no counterbalance, which reduces the possible enjoyment for a true IPA lover. Rye IPAs seem to taste better when barley malt, rather than wheat or oats come along, or as a stand alone starch.

Poured from a 16 oz can dated 12/13/21 into a Willi Becher pint glass.
L - Pours a hazy orange color with a fluffy white head that dissipates slowly.
S - Smells of citrus fruit.
T - Taste matches the smell, very citrusy.
F - Medum body and carbonation.
O - Nice fruity IPA with a distinct flavor from the rye.

Pours the typical Tired Hands haze. Closer to a bright sand than Treehouse orange in color.

Tropical, slight bitterness -- seems a tad out of place for winter.

Juicy, slight hops on the back.

Thick, oaty.

Solid beer, but oddly placed as a Holiday Season beer.

Nice hazy orange juice look with a fading white head that lingers in a thin layer. Wonderful fruity tropical nose on this baby. Tired Hands is Good. Sweet fruity with a touch of dankness and low bitterness. Slightly on the thinner side of medium with a bit less carbonation. Low bitterness sits on the palate a bit. Really good beer. Not sure how much rye I taste. Great beer.

16 ounce can, dated 12/20/18. Poured into tulip. Thanks to canconphilly.
Pours a medium straw colored, hazy, soapy off white head. Great lacing.
Nose of Oj, mango, papaya, sweet floral perfume. Taste follows-orange zest, citrus peels, grapefruit pith, crusty French bread, just a hint of rye spice at the finish, pepper.
Softer, slick mouthfeel with a prickly finish.
Good beer, nice addition with the rye.

Pours a pale yellow color with an inch of white head. Citrus hops, tropical notes, fruity malts, light rye, and resin. No bitterness and medium body. A good beer, more like an IPA.

Bright opaque orange with a small white head and great lacing. Notes of bright citrus, orange, light spice, and vibrant dank hops. Smooth, nice pop of carbonation, with a nicely dry finish. Really nice IPA that I could drink waiting for Santa all day.
