16oz can. Can bottom is stamped 'BOW DOWN 10/13/2022'.
Murky, straw colored body. Two fingers of white head, which quickly fades to an interrupted cap with islands and thick ring. Partial rings and webs of lacing are left behind.
Aroma is sweet pineapple and orange, and oat malt.
Taste is still sweet initially but then gets a bitter note. Flavors of pineapple and orange, then melon and finally a quick note of strawberry. Minor pine notes introduce some bitterness to the profile. The oats have an appearance in the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel is very soft and fuller than medium. Slight but noticeable hop burn on the tongue (the softness is a mitigating factor). Excellent carbonation.
Sweeter hop expression, with a slight bitter touch, and a very soft mouthfeel. Avoids any onion notes and is certainly well balanced in its presentation.

A hazy orange color. White head that retains well. Some lace.
Aroma of tropical fruit and citrus fruit. Pine arrives later.
Taste of melon, mango, and orange, giving way to pine.
Noticeably hoppy

a: hazy, creamy straw yellow color with some golden notes. 2-3 finger frothy off-white head

s: big tropical notes here. sharp pineapple, mango, peach, dragonfruit. papaya and loads of kiwi and strawberry. some crackery notes and orange juice and zest. a hint of pepper spice with an herbal undertone. faint creamsicle notes and tangerines

t: mango, pineapple, peach juice and grapefruit upfront. some immediate bitterness from the grapefruit and a bit of resin as well. crackery backbone behind that as well as big papaya notes. citrus rind bitterness at the back as well

m: fluffy, medium mouthfeel with low-moderate carbonation

o: quite a tasty beer here. nose is very tropical, but the taste is quite bitter. good balance, and it's nice to see some bitterness in a beer with the NEIPA mouthfeel

It shouldn't get much better than this. A clear pint glass filled from the tap, right here in Ardmore, in the brew house. At happy hour, no less, so it's half priced. The brew is a dense straw-amber with a modest white head. It brings a great piney aroma, backed with a little malt. This is one exceptional beer, not too far off of what you'd expect from one of the great Vermont brewers. The hop inclusion is piney and although it bitters during the finish, it never gets close to being astringent. It also manages to do this without getting resinously sticky. The malt body and balance are superb. Truly one of the smoothest, yet full tasting NEIPAs you'll ever have. Everything about this beer works, including some nice glass lacing. Ridiculously drinkable, with a legitimate ABV, this is world class, for sure.

BOW DOWN
2/22/22

Or so is stamped the bottom of the can. Pours that banana taffy hazy yellow that I don't particularly care for, but the two fingers of head are quite the sight. So there's that at least. It eventually thins out to a frothy cap that never fully vanishes. Smells hoppy and juicy and, yes, I can see you barking "no shit" at your screen. So, to be more specific, I'm picking up mango and just green, nostril singing hop. That dreaded onion-y note I often find in NEIPAs is buried in there, but they're masking it really well. Ultimately smells decent enough. A little hop burn on the tongue, with a little onion as well, but there's enough pine and citrus and other assorted fruit-y notes to distract you. Finishes with a lingering citrus bitterness. Drinks awful smooth, though, with a pillowy-soft mouthfeel. I don't know; this hasn't exactly changed my mind on the style as a whole, but it's certainly better than most NEIPAs I've tried.

Murky orange with a finger of frothy white head leaving behind nice lacing. Aromas of dank tropicals and weed. Taste follows the nose and has an excellent pine/bitterness to it. The hop profile of the almighty Chinook, along with Centennial and Columbus is on full display. An excellent mix of citrus with a pine finish. Medium body perfect carbonation. This is a world class IPA, not much more to say.

Poured from a 16-oz can into pint glass in October 2021. There was a brewed date on the label of 10/18/2021. I bought this at the brewpub and drank this less about 1 week after purchase.

Appearance: Medium gold color with huge white head. It is a bright and has a very hazy complexion, like other New England IPAs. Head is very thick, and it lasts a minute time, leaving a small covering. There is a medium amount of lacing on the glass.

Smell: The aroma filled the room while the beer was being poured. Strong aroma of citrus, pine, and hops, as well as some sweetness like pineapple. Also, a little earthy or straw aroma. Overall, the citrus aroma dominates the other aromas.

Taste: Sweet taste with a strong bitter hops edge. There is also a nice malt sweetness as well, and also some berry flavors. There is a typical hops and citrus flavor, but with some sweetness as well. This is bitter like most other New England IPAs, but it is very well-balanced. Has a very nice after-taste that lasts a long time. Overall a nice balance and very drinkable.

Mouthfeel: Medium-Strong bodied, which makes this very drinkable. Medium-Strong alcohol, which matches the 7.0% listed.

This is a very good and interesting IPA. It has a nice mix of citrus, grapefruit, hops, malt, and other flavors, which makes it enjoyable. I like the overall balance, and that the citrus flavors are pronounced but do not dominate the flavor. It has more of a hop edge than many other IPAs. This would be a good IPA to drink often.

Alien Church is one of my favorite IPAs along with the Dogfish 90 Minute and 120 Minute IPAs, Victory's DirtWolf, Sierra Nevada's Hoptimum, and Troeg's Perpetual IPA. This is in my top 5 for IPAs, and I will definitely buy this again.

Can poured into a Mountain Rambler Brewery pint glass

A: Pours golden orange amber with a frothy eggshell white head that settles to a firm layer and laces beautifully.

S: Pine and citrus zest followed by a wave of tropical and stone fruit, peppery spice, faint herbal notes, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.

T: Tropical and stone fruit, mango, peach, apricot, a hint of passion fruit, and faint melon, resinous pine, citrus, orange, lemon, lime, and grapefruit, slight herbal notes, a touch of peppery spice, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.

M: Medium body, moderate carbonation, soft on the palate, kinda chewy, very mild hop burn.

O: Really digging this one. Great balance and fantastic flavor combo.

Can dated 4/5/21 into pint glass. Pours a murky gold with a brief off-white head. Initial impression is a well-balanced blend of citrus, pine, dankness, melon, and berry, with a touch of caramel. Mouthfeel is clean, sharp, and juicy. I don't know how they do that, but there you go. Finish is clean and slightly dry, with a bit of lingering bitterness on the back of the tongue. This is good - really really good. Get you some.

Edit review: After having enough of these now, the only right thing to do is give it a higher score. It is just that good. As close to perfection in a beer style as I've experienced, and I've had many many different IPAs.
