Notes: IPA Brewed with oats. Hopped with Mosaic, Citra, Chinook, Centennial and Columbus. An otherworldly IPA. Bow down before the ALien Church! Notes of blueberries, fresh orange slices, dank, deep pine, honeydew melons.

This beer is great. So smooth for a hazy IPA but so flavorful still. Great Nose and mouthfeel. Especially compared to some of these heavy hazy iPas these days, this one is crushable and smooth

Another unfiltered milkshake looking brew although the head dissipated before I dug in...looks awesome ! Scent is of grapefruit citrus but light on scent. Another flavor winner, sweet/bitter and citrus and malt oh my. This is a taste winner here. Medium mouthfeel with slightly less carbonation. Overall flavor wins.

Palate Contaminants: other beer

The look is an hazy straw color with plenty of fine head and lacing.

Scent is slightly piney, even a little salty, but it's very lactic. (Brined cheese?) A little acidic, too. (Cottage cheese with pineapple?)

The taste is very woody, ash specifically. Any fruit is very mild. Pineapple may be present, but it's not sweet, yet still the acid is present. A bit of cut grass, and a little less clove. Peaty, even. I wouldn't say anything is really muted, though. The tastes range from sharp to subtle.

The feel is pretty smooth, and there's no prickliness after a swish around the mouth. The aftertaste is a continuation of those earthy flavors.

16oz can from LambicPentameter (thanks man!). Canned 2/1/17. Served in a a Wicked Weed snifter.

Pours a hazy, pale straw yellow with about a half finger cap of dense foam. The head slowly dissipates to a modest veneer. The fluffy crown imparts some wide swaths of lace.

Luscious, wondrous citrus and tropical hops immediately greet my nostrils. A faint cakey sweetness wafts in the background but the orangey, melon, mango, passion fruit hops aromas are on full display, to enchanting effect.

There is some utterly delicious tropical juicy hop magic going on in the flavor. Passion fruit, berries, melons, citrus, papaya and a sweet hint of cakey malt. Despite the full pint format the nectar is gone all too soon.

Medium body, slightly resinous but smooth with modest carbonation. The long lasting, only minorly bitter finish bursts with juicy tropical hop notes and a faint malty sweetness.

I've had some tasty hop work from Tired Hands but nothing like this. Alien Church nails the very popular hazy, juicy "northeastern IPA". This was a real treat that I hope to experience again.

Hazy apricot/straw, soapy head. Smells like grapefruit, tropical fruit, mango. Taste is a little dank and a little spicy, definitely fruity, flavor is slightly thin. Lighter body and moderate carbonation, easy drinking.

Poured into a tulip.

Look is an a,aging yellow, hazy with a nice foamy head.

Smell is nice, fruity, hops, and slight spice.

Taste follows the nose. Amazing beer. Stone fruits, mango, pineapple, and hops.

Mouth feel is medium, nice finish, lingers around. Nice juicy after taste.

Overall excellent. Love tired hands beers. The art is amazing, and the beer is definitely worth a trade if you can do it.

Thanks to Goblinmunkey7 for the can.

Consumed 3/15/17

A: Pale gold to tangerine with some straw around the edges - hazy, turbid - pours with a medium size, off white head, fades to a few wisps, leaves some streaks of lacing

S: Bright citrus and tropical fruit - tangerine, orange, grapefruit zest - some dank and herbal notes - ripe peach, candied peach - very tropical with some mango, melon, papaya, passion fruit - Juicy Fruit gum - light sweetness at the base

T: The actual taste falls somewhat flat from the bright aroma - citrus, with some light hints of tangerine and grapefruit peel - hop pellets, some green, herbaceous flavors - lightly earthy - tropical, but muted, peach, mango, melon, passion fruit - bitter with a lingering bitterness -chlorine - very light, pale malts at the base, lacks attenuation, seems under-fermented, honestly

M: On the light side of medium, carbonation on the low side, smooth

O: Take me to church

Alien Church marks the first time I have ever been able to sit down with my own can of Tired Hands and give an honest review. And... it's not their best effort. It has a lovely aroma. Perhaps it is just the batch, but the punch of the hops is lacking. The overall taste seems muddled and unfinished. I may need to revisit this one.

Pours a hazy pale yellow with a one finger head that reduces to a halo, some lacing.

Aroma is slightly spicy, some orange, cantaloupe, moss, flowers and pine.

Taste is heavy Mosaic, berries, oranges, and cantaloupe, a rye like spiciness, a mixture of pine and grapefruit bitterness. Little bit of breadiness on the tail end as well.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied, smooth but a little chalky, lower end of good carbonation.

Overall the the taste and aroma are the best of this beer, it's neither the prettiest not the best mouthfeel. But it does taste like I need another.

16 oz. can poured into a Tired Hands pint glass. Canned on 12/21/2016 and bought at the release. Features three faces drawn up by Mike Lawrence.

L - bright yellow color, super cloudy hue, super bubbly 2-3 finger head, frothy lacing that covers 60-70% of the glass. Not quite the color you'd expect with a beer named Alien Church

S - soft aroma, nothing intense about it. Spearmint is pretty dominant, along with the usual suspects like pine and citrus. Orange or lemon peel comes to mind as well. Very pleasant, would make a great cologne xD

T - so many flavors on such an even plain. Citrus, pine, medium bitterness. High alpha acid hops really linger on the tongue. Maltiness is soft like German or Belgian wheat beers

F - super smooth and clean texture, wheat beer feel and a crisp finish. Hops leave a resin trail on the palate. Hint of booze with the hops

O - Tired Hands loves making beers with wheat and oats and they do not cut short on hops. Alien Church has been a main stay for them and is very popular amongst fans. Not very intense but super smooth, truly a wolf in sheep's clothing. Trade for it if Tired Hands is out of your reach, at least do it for the can, Cheers!

Notes from a can release a few months ago.

Poured from a can into my DFH IPA glass shortly after the can release.

L: A medium orange with some golden hints. Nice one finger white head with nice full lacing.

S: Tropical fruits with mango, melon, pineapple and some citrus. I pick up some nice candy sweetness.

T: The tropical fruits jump with mango, pineapple and guava that mix with a fairly heavy dose of citrus hops. The sweetness is candy like and is pretty hefty. Just as you think the sweetness will linger, the piney bitterness comes in to make the beer dry out in the end. A pretty decent alcohol bite finishes it out. The brewery lists blueberry in the flaovr, but I didn't detect any. Still, a really good beer.

F: Prickly, coating, full with some alcohol.

O: Another very good beer from TH, but I'll be honest and say it's was not my favorite. Would I drink it all day every day, you betcha. But when you are up against the Milkshakes and Hop Hands (which is still an absolute favorite of mine) it's hard to match up. Still, a really good beer that I enjoyed a few times (scored 2 four packs). Another winner.

Edit: After having this now a few times, I've come to truly appreciate how good this is...espeically fresh. It's really, really good and has turned into one of my favorite non-milshake beers. Tremendous time in and time out. Upping scores.

Poured 16oz can into snifter. I like the look of this, cloudy pale gold with a big 3 finger fluffy white head. Fades very slow and plasters the glass with foamy blobs. It is very aromatic and loaded with tropical notes, mango, papaya, sweet kiwi along with citrus. Flavor is a blend of tropical and citrus fruit juice. Pick up tangerine and mango with hints of pineapple and grapefruit. There is probably some malt, but it faves the juicy hops. Feel is medium light and well carbonated with a slightly dry finish. TH makes outstanding IPAs, that is all

16 oz can. Cloudy yellow-orange color, finger white head slowly fades and coats the glass. Big juicy orange aroma with some hop notes evident. Bright citrusy taste, verging on juicy but then the hops step in, dank and earthy with grapefruit peel and pine there as well. Finishes dry with just the right amount of bitterness. Thin to medium silky feel. Overall excellent IPA by Tired Hands, glad I finally got to try it.

Draught pour at the Fermentation. Hazy appearance as expected, ringed lacing . Uber vibrant dank and tropical nose, wonderful! Some citrus undertones. Taste was almost inverted, large citrus and heavy dankness. Very enjoyable. Finish was very clean, hint of tropical attributes lingers with plenty of astringency and minimal bitterness. Mouthfeel was soft and carbonation on the lower side.
Great beer, definitely recommend.

Can dated 8/10:
Pours a cloudy light yellow, with a nice fluffy head on an aggressive pour. After the head settles and few swirls to bring out the nose, there is a thin surface-covering white sheath that thickens at the edges of the glass. Spotty lacing left after a sip from the glass.

Nose is muted, but I seem to get classic American IPA notes - grapefruit pith and pine. The pine note is a tad woody, and I after a few sips, I also get a reedy grass note in the nose. Warmth brings a little tropical indication, but still shrouded in a bitterness - like the rinds unripe tropical fruits.

The taste basically followed the nose. I got a pine wood resin note early, but eventually mango, passion fruit, and grapefruit rind notes started to shine through. Nice balance of sweetness against the hop notes that still leaves this quite bitter. There is a stickiness to the beer as it passes my tongue, like it wants to hold onto my tongue longer than most beverages. Yet, it stays fairly soft at the edges, like quite a few cloudy IPAs I have had in the past tend to be. The sweeter tropical fruit notes grow in strength with each sip. A woody to even a slightly coconut flavor hold the back of the taste throughout, though.

My initial thoughts on this beer was that it was not as vibrant as I expected. Compared to the D2:H3 Galaxy I had just had, I was thinking I liked the other better, even though this gave me some of the malt sweetness I looked for in the other. But given time to open up, this began to grab my favor more and more. Definitely one to grab again.

Damn does this beer look like a piƱa colada or what? Alien Church is a 100% opaque pale yellow, almost like banana pudding, with a moderate, dense, white meringue head.

Smell is very fruity and decadent, with fresh, soft peach and blueberry accompanied by a softening oat scent that ushers in a nougat, shortcake-like essence, making this one very enticing, nearing dessert beer.

Taste is a surprising bite of pine up front, which is slightly bitter. I then get that melon taste, along with some orange marmalade, although light. Woody pine is the most dominate flavor. While it is complimented by the nose, the aroma doesn't contribute much to the flavor. A sort of muted oatmeal malt flavor runs in the background.

Feel is not as soft and delicate as the appearance and smell give off. Alien Church has a very dry, almost chalky finish.

Thanks to JLindros for sharing, canned on 5/11.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice hazy very very pale straw hue with a one finger head that fades to leave nice lacing and a thin blanket.

S - Aromas of huge melon notes, light earthy mosaic bitterness, good citrus peel, fair amount of light tropical notes.

T - Taste is similar to the nose, light melon, good tropical notes, light earthy spicy hops. Rather tasty.

M - Mouthfeel is nicely carbonated light, bit thin.

O - Overall this is a solid hoppy offering, good hop notes, very solid.

Canned 5/11

Fluffy creamy thick 1 finger head fades semi slowly with tons of messy lacing, murky hazy pale pear color.

Nose big tropical notes, papaya, little mango, generic tropical, little citrus, orange pith, little melon, little tangerine grapefruit thing, guava, hint of mosaic pine.

Taste brings a little toasted malt, more grassy citrus tropical hops, papaya, citrus, little generic tropical, fair bitterness, little pith, grapefruit, rich mango, musty notes, into a hint of mosaic pine later, little melon. Finish is a little thin but fair bitterness, lingering generic tropical and citrus hops, etc.

Mouth is med to lighter bod, decent carb.
