32oz growler into Tired Hands stemware. Shared with schen9303.
Pours a modest 1 finger course light cream colored head with poor retention. Beer is a clear cherry mahogany. Lacing is spotty, minimal with thick, oily legs. Average considering the style and serving type.
Nose is smoke, molasses, maple and brown sugar sweetness. Pretty straightforward... but confused at the same time.
Opens molasses, brown sugar, some spiciness and nuttiness. Smoke, liquorice and beechwood in the middle with hints of more molasses and anise. Ends sweet and sugary with some chestnut and hazelnut at the finish. Solid.
Medium bodied with low carbonation. Smooth with a slight bit of bite in the mouth and goes down warm and viscous. Messy finish with a lingering aftertaste. Decent.
A very unique beer. It takes a little getting used to but the complexity is appreciated and the flavor is solid. Worth trying.
