Tasted like you got one of the bad jellybeans from Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans.

Cask offering at TH during the 2nd anniversary celebration.

Yeah, this was some seriously gnarly stuff. It raised many questions, the main one presumably being, "Who the **** would make a garlic beer, and why?" Well, I guess you can never truly know if something is bad if you don't try it? (I was shocked to learn that there actually are other garlic beers...and as you might guess, they're all disgusting failures.)

Well, I know I didn't have to try this, but I did anyway. Probably the worst part was that this, being a TH cask beer, was only served in 8 or 20 ounce pours, with no 4oz. (or less) option. Appearance was basically like a normal casked stout, dark black color, thin ring of bubbles around the rim. No real retention or lacing worth mentioning. There was nothing subtle about this smelled like garlic, strong garlic, not garlic bread, but full cloves of garlic. There were some remnants of a roasty stout in the taste, but the garlic pretty much conquered all senses here and overwhelmed the palate. This was one of the most difficult 8oz. beers I've ever drank, but I did actually power through...well, maybe 3/4 of the glass. Props to those who got the 20ozer and actually finished it.

Basically, for a garlic beer, this was good. But who wants a garlic beer, honestly? I'm sure there was some tongue-in-cheekedness behind offering this cask, but for an anniversary party...come on, they could've done better. How about a Mrs. Dash saison next year?
