On tap at Veil Summer Fest. Golden color with minor head. Nose obviously is pineapple with some vanilla notes. Taste more or less is the same, nice oat backbone bolsters the pineapple and tropical flavors. Medium-bodied, not much carbonation, long finish. Good construction. Depends if you like the style and flavor, really. It's well-executed.

Traded for this ages ago, as this was dates 1/2/18 on the bottom of the can with what appeared to be TO BRO written underneath that. I loved the other Milkshake IPA's that I'd had from Tired Hands over the years and this one was on par with it. Sure, it may come across as a one-dimensional gimmick but I enjoyed it and how nicely it still tasted after all this time and when pineapple is done right, what else could one ask for as summer draws to a close?

Solid pour to this as the liquid was like pineapple itself - dank, golden, and juicy. Plenty of head topped it off and the lacing was quite nice with a few well-defined soapy rings near the top of my pint glass. Lots of this beer's namesake flavor in the aroma with some embedded tropical notes, orange, fruit cocktail, and dank hops thrown in for good measure. Loads of vanilla, sugar, malt, and tangerine cream in the taste which complemented the other notes quite nicely. Not overly sweet or strong, this was quite creamy and nearly devoid of any carbonation or intense body. Everything was in wonderful proportion here as this went down as well as any pineapple milkshake would in actuality...

Not a lot of booze here and I was able to feel a slight warming and buzz when I finished this off. The milkshake offerings from Tired Hands may not have the appeal that they once did but for me, I love to get my hands on them whenever I have a chance. This was a good one that deserves another go-around, as a fresher can would be even better than this joyful concoction!

Not really into sweet IPA's, but thought this might be novel and fun, It was. My only real complaint was the citrus was a bit overwhelming for me and that was a turn-off. Pine =apple was odd to, but was cool as we get back to the novelty thing. Will buy again to keep on hand when I want something other than my go to Bell's Two Hearted Ale. Always looking for something fun to drink and this was one of those.
Like all my reviews and my consumption method, pured directly down my throat from a very chilly can or bottle. Just saying.
Be cool all.

Great citrus aroma with some light vanilla creamy notes to the Beer. Made with lactose and clearly has lots of pineapple. Off white head with good lacing.

Received in a trade and shared with JLindros.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice hazy pale straw hue with a thin white head that fades to leave light lacing and thin blanket.

S - Big aromas of sweet tropical pineapple, very little lactose, tons of dank earthy Mosaic. Lightly vegetative, loads of spicy pine.

T - Taste is similar to the nose with loads of bitter earthy spicy pine. Completely over shadows the pineapple and lactose flavour. There is some light vanilla creamy notes.

M - Mouthfeel is nicely carbonated, little crisp and little creamy.

O - Overall this was a very underwhelming beer with hardly any pineapple. Not nearly as good as I remember Tired Hands milkshake ipas being.

Light fizzy head, low retention, hazy cloudy pale color

Nose loads of tropical fruit, pineapple, lactose, citrus, doughy wheat, pithy grainy, little piney

Taste more pine and earthy hop with pineapple, lactose sugar, light doughy malt and papery like, gritty, medium to lighter bitterness that clashes a bit, raw spicy pineapple

Mouth is med bod, creamy lactose, lighter carb

Overall meh, some earthy pine hop and gritty, papery, and lactose blends iffy

Poured from a tallboy can into a Dogfish Head tulip

L: Hazed golden juicy pour. Thick fluffy white head leaves great lacing.

S: Pineapple and citrus. Sweets and vanilla.

T.F: Just like it smells. Pineapple and sweet fruit up front. Not as overwhelming as I'd expected... and it melds nicely with the grapefruit and citrus of the IPA. Some lighter tropical fruits with definite vanilla and lactose. Creamy on the tongue... modest bitterness.

O: A delicious milkshake IPA. The pineapple compliments the brew without overpowering... fantastic beer.

Lush perfectly uniform head with stellar retention... The color is a hazy pale gold.. No discernible carbonation... Aroma is of sugary pineapple syrup and warm milk... Flavors of pineapple preserves, sugar and lactose... Lush and creamy with a slight denseness... Layers of complexity and surprises in all facets... A unique and rewarding session experience...

Beautiful in the glass, with a translucent bright yellow color and a medium sized frothy head that left splotchy lacing. The aroma was dank pineapple, if that makes sense. The pineapple was bright and clear on the palate. It was ever so slightly tart which worked well with the appearance of sweet lactose. The slightly dark underbelly stepped forward on the finish. Full bodied and creamy as expected. Overall outstanding.

S - skunk, grapefruit, cotton candy.

T - skunk persists into the taste, with citrus and pineapple sweetness. Earthy middle. Low bitterness. Moderate-low sweetness. Low booziness.

Hazy look with a white frothy head. The body of this beer and the finish are what makes it delicious IMO. Light pineapple in the flavor but more citrusy-vanilla. Mouthfeel is velvety-smooth...almost like milk. Smell is of sugary-sweet pineapple.

Pours cloudy golden with a nice white head. Aroma of pineapple, tangerine and vanilla. Taste follows the nose with orange peel and lemon zest. Nice addition but not one of the stronger ones of the milkshake family. Tad disappointed.

Poured from a 3 day old can into my Tired Hands pint glass.

L: A medium super cloudy hazy yellow color with a two finger white head. Nice huge glass lacing. Looks terrific.

S: Tropical fruit is huge with this one, with tons of pineapple, tangerine and of course the vanilla. I also get some creamsickle and cotton candy,

T: The tropical fruits and pinapple are just pounding in your mouth with vanilla mixed in. Orange creamsickle, tangerine and some lemon mix with the pinapple. Sweetness is cotton candy like as the finish turns back to huge notes of tropical fruit and pineapple. I thought the pineapple really shines in this one. Finish stays dry with some slight pine and no alcohol but stays creamy smooth.

F: Creamy and smooth, but dry. Amazing how the shakes pull this off Carbonation is perfect and no alcohol.

O: Another quality shake that probably takes my last slot in the top 5 of shakes, it's that good. This batch was terrific as I heard the last batch was "ordinarly". Anyway, awesome beer.

Pours cloudy gold color with a foamy 1 finger foamy off white head that faded slowly and left minimal spotty lacing.

Smells of pineapple, grapefruit, orange peel, lemon zest, clementine, citrus hops, guava, piney hops, tropical fruit, light grains, caramel and sweet toasty notes that balance the pungent tropical fruits.

This is so smooth like all Tired Hands beers, with grapefruit, clementine, pineapple, tart pear, orange juice, fresh citrus hops, guava, dank piney hops, tropical fruit, light grains, caramel and sweet malt like graham cracker. Not as much pineapple as I expected but it was still delicious.

From draft at the TH Brew Cafe. Classic NE IPA cloudy yellow pour with a nice head. Delicious nose of tropical fruit and palate to match. The pineapple and vanilla are clearly evident. Nice, long finish, too. And the silky mouthfeel from lactose sugar. One of the best from TH

Deep golden yellow you could call it pineapple flesh in color, hazy, turbid, medium white head and great lacing. Aromas are soft but tropical and hoppy. Notes of citrus peels, tangerine, vanilla, and pineapple spritzer. Soft, creamy, finishes with a carbonation bite that moves it along nicely. They brew these as IPAs first which I love, that said this wasn't the most potent flavored or best version in the series. It's lacking the fruit backbone.

Canned on 01/19/17.
Pours like hazy pale grapefruit juice. The smell is dominated by tropical fruit and dank hops. The taste is of pineapple juice, and bitter citrus fruits. The texture is full and creamy. I'm a fool for pineapple and this is an outstanding pineapple IPA.

Canned 1/13/17. Reviewed 2/6/17.

A: Beer pours a pale gold color with about a finger of fluffy white head. Medium-plus to full haze on this one, with minimal translucency and some darkness near the center of the glass. Average head retention, and nice wispy lacing.

S: Definitely getting a lot of the hops on the nose. Up front, it's tons of bright, fruity Mosaic--I get candied peach, pineapple, and something a little more earthy (like blueberry). As it warms, the Citra definitely starts to contribute some 'dank' aromatics--something musty, a little vegetal and grassy. Maybe a bit of tangerine and grapefruit flesh as well. Honestly, I'm not getting any vanilla on the nose, and the pineapple aromas seem to be coming more from the hops than the fruit. Nonetheless, it does smell like a really good Mosaic+Citra IPA, though I'm not sure that's what they were going for....

T: Okay, there's the adjuncts! While the hops are still the stars here, the vanilla and pineapple definitely show up on the taste. Up front, I get a pop of Mosaic flavor (similar peach, blueberry, maybe something more tropical like guava). Behind that, there's a more subtle tart pineapple note that seems more fruity than hoppy--it's not exactly pungent, but it's interesting. Mid-taste, the vanilla comes through big time, layering a dessert-esque sweetness and a "vanilla bean ice cream" flavor on top of the fruit flavors. Surprisingly, these flavors disappear rather quickly, and the backend is dominated by the bready malt backbone until the aftertaste, which is when the adjuncts (pineapple + sweet vanilla) combine and really linger on the tongue.

M: Really soft and delicate on the palate. Good carbonation that glides the beer across the tongue, but nothing too thick or, despite the name, milkshake-esque. Drinks below its ABV, with no hint of alcohol and a medium body. On the sweeter side of the bitter vs. sweet scale, but I think that's what they were going for here. Really well done mouthfeel.

O: This is a very good IPA, but not worth the price of entry, IMO. The Milkshake series seems to garner more demand than TH's other releases, but I prefer many of their non-Milkshake offerings to this one. To me, this is an enjoyable yet confusing beer. The nose is all hops, with lots of tropical Mosaic and dank Citra. The taste has a little bit of everything, but it's missing the cohesion that would justify the making of this beer. While I am happy to have tried this and would gladly drink another, I wouldn't seek it out again considering how tough it is to trade for these.

what in the world! now this really changed my view on pineapple in a beer, had plenty of horrible failed attempts at beers incorporating pineapple in, but this is like Pineapple Julius, simply stupid!, No really fucking stupid! I didn't want to drink it and just wanted to enjoy the unique nose on a beer i never thought I would get with pineapple notes. Love pineapple but never in a beer but this is really amazing. wish i had more. So pungent and creamy for an IPA. Worth seeking out!

Catch the pineapple aroma as soon as the can is cracked open. Pour looks like fresh pineapple juice but with a nice white head which leaves a fine lace in the glass. Pineapple dominates the fruit. Mild sweetness rounded out by the hop bite. Finish is clean with lingering pineapple aftertaste. Mouthfeel was medium bodied with a creaminess.

It actually looks like pineapple puree. The opacity is not a surprise, displaying a light tan yellow with a soft two finger lumpy froth leaving a distinct layer of lace. This one is 90% opaque, and it looks nothing like the snowglobe of milkshakes past.

Smell is that classic vanilla cream, almost shortbread, with a little sharp yeast and pungent pine. Fruit is not distinctly pineapple, but is sort of like a mix between peach, mango and pineapple all in one, topped with whipped cream.

Mmmmmmmmm! Flavor is so much more pineappley than nose. This is pretty close to a pina colada up front, with the creamy vanilla element almost mimicking coconut. A little astringent pine offers a formidable bitterness to keep this from being a dessert, although there is also some straight pink bubblegum in here as well. It gets more bitter, surprisingly so, as it warms.

Feel is actually thin and damn near crisp, with a very dry finish.

Had this in a 64 oz growler. Even though it had been three days since picking it up, it was perfectly carbonated. So easy to go down! Delicious, sweet, and just a nice break from the standard IPA. Great beer!
