From a 16oz can purchased at last week's TH can release. Other recent reviews captured this beer well. It is as smooth a double IPA as I have had; the heat of the alcohol is well-hidden. Simply delicious and another example of how TH excels. Impressive!

Murky turbid golden yellow, ring of white head and some lace. Smell is full of big fruity hops, like an orange creamsicle, pineapple, orange and mango juice, a faint suggestion of malt but mostly a tropical fruit bomb. Taste is just like the nose, big creamsicle and pineapple and mango juice, lightly bitter but the hop flavour is intense, dry and fruity into the finish, long orange and tropical aftertaste. Lightly carbonated, medium full body, creamy, mouth coating and satisfying. Incredible, top notch DIPA with zero evidence of alcohol here.

Canned 10/5/16. Consumed 10/11/16.

A: Beer comes in a light gold to dark yellow color with medium-plus haze. About a finger of pillowy white head on the pour sticks around for a bit. Nice laces of foam and visible alcohol legs stick to the glass.

S: This beer totally reminds me that Simcoe is an underappreciated hop! The nose on this is huge, with a very different aromatic profile from the crazy tropical hops that are dominating the NE-style scene today. Up front, I get a really nice orange sorbet note, very reminiscent of that which I get from Galaxy-hopped beers. It's like navel orange and tangerine but with hints of vanilla cream. Behind that, there's an intense aromas of strawberry, cantaloupe and maybe even a hint of bright red cherries. Really interesting aroma, one that showcases what I believe to be the best aspects of Simcoe.

T: Follows the nose pretty closely. Up front, I get a big smack of that orange sorbet. Sweet citrus juice without any astringency or bitterness. That's closely followed and complemented by the vanilla cream note, which quickly succumbs to flavors of strawberry, papaya, and cantaloupe. Aside from a mild grassiness, there isn't much green hop character to speak of; this is almost entirely fruit-forward. On the finish, the sweet citrus creamsicle combines with a some sort of dark red fruit (strawberry? or red cherry?) to stick to the sides of the mouth. There's something medicinal about the aftertaste, almost like cherry cough syrup (the flavor, not the cloying sticky sweetness). If there's anything I'd change about this beer, it's dialing back that pungent aftertaste.

M: Medium weight on the tongue along with a medium-minus carbonation of tiny bubbles to make for a very smooth, creamy, and drinkable DIPA. Medium-minus bitterness on the finish could be upped slightly to balance out the medium sweetness. But fortunately, the sweetness, which is quite grainy rather than syrupy, refrains from being cloying.

O: One of the best I've had from Tired Hands and one of the best single-hopped Simcoe beers I've experienced. Technicolor Splendor offers a tremendously drinkable, fruit-forward DIPA with a very unique flavor profile. I'm not quite familiar enough with spelt to pick out its contributions to this brew, but I expect it had something to do with the intense, lingering grainy sweetness on the finish. With a bit less sweetness, a kicked up mouthfeel, and maybe the addition of another hop (Galaxy?), this beer would be up there with the best. But as it stands, it's a delicious showcase of a hop that I'd like to further explore!

Hazy bright yellow color. Aroma is fruity and a bit grainy with overripe tropical notes. Taste is juicy and a bit floral with linden notes and malty backbone. Quite nice one.
