Double Milkshake IPA - StrawberryDouble Milkshake IPA - Strawberry
Notes: Double Strawberry Milkshake IPA is the latest blown out drippy iteration of our psychedelic Culinary IPA series dreamt up in tandem with our brothers at Omnipollo. This is an amplification of the one that started it all over two years ago... Strawberry Milkshake IPA. For this brew we actually went way over our "normal" usage rates for fruit, and added almost 2.5x the amount of fruit that one of our Double Shakes would call for. As usual, we used double he amount of Madagascar vanilla bean and double the amount of hops. This one is a mind bender.

Serving: 16 oz can (stamped “YO BRO 11/16/2018”), poured into a Spiegelau IPA glass.

Appearance: Hazy golden yellow, increasingly cloudy towards to bottom of the cab. Tall frothy white head slowly recedes to a pillowy cap and streaky lace.

Smell: Opens with a whiff of fresh strawberries, growing into stone fruit, melon, vanilla and slight dankness (consumed 3-Feb-19, so not ideally fresh).

Taste: Strawberries continue in the flavor, though more jammy and lingering. Vanilla, grapefruit and orange emerge next, relatively sweet, but with enough bitterness for a clean finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium body, velvety and creamy smooth feel, with soft carbonation.

Overall: Creamy, smooth and full of strawberries that work surprisingly well with the vanilla infused hazy IPA base.

Tall can ..... on the bottom is printed 11/16/18.

Cloudy pour, moderate cap, but leaves a bunch of fine lacing.

Soft strawberry infused sweetness on the nose.

Tasty milkshake of an IPA, more strawberries evident but not over powering....add in some vanila for complexity.

Too sweet for my liking, but that element meets the style...

Can dated 11/16/18. Poured into Belgian tulip.
Look is dense orange haze with a white head. Nose is strawberry and a bit of vanilla plus mosaic berry notes then citra citrus fruit notes in the back. Taste is mostly berry with some nice vanilla in the back in balance, finish is decently sweet but not overly so, lingering berry. Mouthfeel is thick and nicely creamy. Overall nice creamy milkshake brew. Not as crazy as I thought it’d be being from tired hands, but that’s just the ridiculous hype speaking. Still great stuff.

If I could give this a zero, I would. I immediately tasted that nestle strawberry syrup when I drank this. I hope they can this a lot less often in favor of the more sour ones like lemon meringue.

Canned 11 days ago. First time having one of these shakes this fresh. I've definitely dug them so far for the most part (wasn't wild for tangerine, but it was old).

This one is awesome. Thick beautiful body and yep...thats a strawberry ipa and it works!!! Paint me impressed. Glad to habe another.

Another beer I'm getting to a little late, but still find incredibly tasty... Opaque medium gold beer with a couple of fingers of ivory foam on top... Citrus, berry, and vanilla on the nose followed by a fruit smoothie of a beer - thick with strawberry, citrus, and vanilla, this is a real dessert IPA... Moderately sweet and mildly bitter, smooth and plush... a real treat... 6/23 or 29 (can't make it out)/17 canning - again, must've been insane fresher than this...

16 oz can. Brews smells like a dream, strawberry notes over citrus. Tastes up front like the aroma, delish with some grapefruit peel at the end that lasts just a touch too long. Soft creamy feel. Great DIPA with a twist, hope to get more of these milkshakes to try.

L: Pours a murky yellow and orange color with very little head into a teku glass. Leaves some nice lacing around the glass.
S: Strawberries and some stone fruit
T: Strawberry upfront followed by a creamy flavor from the vanilla and cirtius fruits. Not bitter at all.
F: Light carbonation on this can. Nice full body and easy to drink.
O: Very enjoyable. An interesting take on the IPA style. Can't wait to try some of the other flavors!

Delivers on its promises, but the citrus and stone fruit contributions from the hops don't necessarily blend well with the authentic fresh strawberry flavor. Aroma is intensely strawberry-forward, more than I was expecting. The front end of the taste is primarily sweet, in-season strawberry while the backend is dominated by orange juice, grapefruit flesh, and vanilla. It's somewhat disjoint, and the rich, hefty body can't quite hold it together. It's a sensory overload and is impressively easy to drink for the ABV, but not necessarily a cohesive beer.
