Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 4.50%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
Crushable IPA. Brewed with crispy German Pilsner malt, wheat, malted oats, and fresh lemon juice. Hopped rotationally and intensely with Galaxy and Simcoe. That's right... we intend to brew Handbier a bunch and maybe switch up the hops every once in a while based on what we think will make it a more refined and snappy juicy little number. Who knows though! Maybe we'll just keep groovin' on the Galaxy and Simcoe duet. This iteration of Handbier is oozing with notes of peach, lemon-lime, green grass, and summer breeze coconut.

Very pale clear yellowish-green with a solid soft white sheet of film left behind by the blanket of foam.

Smell is light, but does exhibit some lemon, dank weeds and biscuit.

Taste is straw, hay and biscuit with hints of lime, corn and mint.

This one's super frothy, but light in body, finishing semi-dry.

Too green with a heavily soapy, enamel ripping dryness. Head dissipates in mere moments. Likely StarSan.

PSA: Stop rating these beers highly on name. This beer is garbage and should be slammed.

Poured from a 32 oz growler into a pint glass.
L - Pours a hazy yellow with a sticky white head.
S - Smells like lemonade.
T - Kind of a lighter beer, but nice refreshing lemony IPA.
F - Medium body and carbonation.
O - Great beer for the end of the light.

Pours pale yellow gold, cloudy with a 2 finger off-white head - looks very much like white grapefruit juice. Aroma is lightly sweet with grapefruit and lemon and orange notes with a hint of stone fruit in the back, maybe peach or apricot. Taste is similar but some pineapple notes too but mostly lemon tang. Thin body with low malt and a moderate bitterness that kicks in midway through and lingers to the finish. Bright flavor makes it really perfect. No off flavors at all. Just really well done.

For the awesome 4.5% this is a big beer, full of flavor from the bright hops. The moderate bitterness really helps to give it a boost away from the "aromatic sweet" NEIPAs out there. God I wish I had this around my area!

Papaya whip hue; semi-cloudy appearance; prominent head; sticky lacing. Nose is lemon; rye bread; peach; a hint of tropical fruit; manicured tennis lawns. Taste follows with emphasis on lemon juice, finishing with a gentle whisper of peach on the back end. The feel is a delicate melange of hops that coat the tongue with precision, while offering just enough bite to assert the style. For a crushable, session IPA, this is on point. Well done.

Great label art on this one, it's too bad the beer itself is a bit disappointing.

This one pours a pretty light yellow, slightly hazy, with a good level of lacing down the glass, from a big head.

This doesn't honestly smell like a whole lot- a little bit of lemon, and a lot of floral hops.

This is fairly malty, and a little boring- as the pilsner malt seems to dominate for me. The lemon juice is pretty mild, with the hop character mainly being fairly grassy, and not super fruity. It's a little bit bitter, and it doesn't linger much on the finish.

This is very light bodied, and a bit watery, with a good level of carbonation.

Tired Hands usually hits me the right way. This beer, however, does not.

[From Notes | Consumed 8/10/17]

@ Fermentaria

Thickly hazed pale yellow under a fluffy white head. Dank, seedy lemon aromas muddled with herbs, melon-scented soap, and light unripe peach. Flavors of grassy herbs, cracked wheat, pine needles, light earthy lemon juice, mineral water, and some dank seedy passion fruit. Light, crisp, frothy feel. Good, refreshing, interesting fruited IPA.

Tired Hands - Handbier
8/2/17 (4 days old)

Picked up at brewery last week. Poured into a Tired Hands teku.

L - 1 finger head recedes like lightning. The beer is pale yellow, and slightly murky.

S - some citrus, mainly lemon, and a bit of something flowery too. I dig the nose on this.

T - citrus hops, lemon, and a bit of biscuit/bread on the end.

F - medium-light body. Quite light by TH standards.

O - This should be Tired Hands' summer crusher. Too bad they probably won't brew it again until the fall (with different hops at that). I could kill a 4 of these in an afternoon without even knowing what happened!
