The Light That Spills Out Of The Hole In Your Head - DDHThe Light That Spills Out Of The Hole In Your Head - DDH
Notes: DDH The Light that Spills out of the Hole in Your Head is a return of, of sorts, to one of our most beloved beers from the #BrewCafé heyday. Brewed with a heavy handed dose of oats, hopped meaningfully with Nelson Sauvin and Amarillo, and infused with a mountain of fresh clementine zest during the brew. Fermented with a generous quantity of whole clementine juice, dry hopped with Amarillo and Nelson Sauvin, and secondarily dry hopped with pungent Australian Galaxy. We couldn't have pulled this one off without our good neighbors at Juice Dr. Thanks, friends! Notes of fluffy clementine meringue, tropical fruit parfait, citrus flavored marshmallows and mango bubblegum.

Cloudy pale yellow with an overly-large, airy, yellowed head. Moderate retention gives way to fairly-thick soap bubble lacing.

Huge aroma of citrus, flowers, distant cut grass and a touch of cat piss and forest-like dankness. There’s that sticky, powdery quality from fresh dry hopping, too.

The taste seems water down by comparison. A faded facsimile of the nose, there’s some clementine, grapefruit, citrus rind, white pepper and grassiness. Maybe a distant hint of cotton candy or marshmallow, too. Citrus rind bitterness lingers in the aftertaste.

Medium bodied with a lightly chewy quality and zippy carbonation.

This is one of those beers with an out-of-this-world aroma, that the taste just can’t keep up with. Tastes very good, but seems delicate and fragile against the nose.

Golden tinged yellow to peach in hue. White foam bursts nearly 3 fingers in height. The retreat still has good retention with slight lacing.
Aroma explodes with creamy orange and tangerine. Hints of grass, weed, and a "gristy" malt note.
Taste follows the nose pretty faithfully with some added notes of grapefruit and a wink of peppery spice. More subdued than the nose.
Light bodies, but a bit fluffy. Carbonation is active.
Overall, love it. But was hoping the flavors would be as bold as the nose. Having said that, still a damn fine take on a PA.

16 oz can, dated 11/19/20, poured into a teku

A- A hazy golden straw with a two finger white head

S- Citrus, hints of clementines, citrus zest, earthy dankness, slightly floral, hints of pineapple.

T- Citrus, clementines, earthy, slightly dank, pineapple, citrus zest, a little floral.

M- Smooth, light to medium body.

O- The galaxy DDH works very well in this. Clementines seem to be more noticeable in this one than the regular version.
