Pours a reddish tinted brown, clean with a moderate cap of khaki head. Scent brings solid piney hop presence before crusty and bready malts, light caramel take over, light notes of chocolate. Solid multi-dimensional brown ale with good, solid hop charachter and complex malt backbone. Medium bodied, smooth and slightly creamy/ Enjoyable from start to finish.

On tap at Tired Hands. Pours a medium brown color with a nice off-white head and some spotty lacing. The nose carries some nice earthy undertones along with some mild chocolate and toasted bread. Over the top of that is a nice bit of pine resin and citrus hops. Flavor adds in a nice bitter edge to go with a nice bit of hop flavor overlaying the malt base. Medium body and a fairly-dry finish. Quite nice.

First had: on tap at their brewpub

Poured a clearish medium brown color with a small off-white head that receded to a ringlet. Subdued aroma of caramel malts, toasted bread, indistinct hops. Taste was surprisingly hoppy and citrusy up front, a quality that's not usually so distinct in a brown ale. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but it didn't seem so bad to me, and as someone who doesn't care much for brown ales, it was a welcome change of pace. Otherwise, toasted bread, slightly nutty and a tolerable twinge of wet cardboard. Light-medium body and quite sessionable.

A fresh tasting and very hop forward brown ale. Reminded me a bit of the Stone/Bear Republic/Fatheads collaboration TBA. Light brown body with an awesome cream colored head that has excellent retention. Tons of lace. Big hoppy nose full of simcoe; pine resins and mango; bittersweet chocolate and cocoa powder. Flavor balances these elements beautifully; the hops jump out in vivid detail, again with mango, pine, resinous notes; the chocolate malt emerges smoothly underneath, creating a nice contrast and adding a bit of mild sweetness.

Very smooth and creamy feel, medium body and moderate carbonation. Extremely pleasing to drink; flavorful and interesting in the way it combines the chocolate notes with the fruity hops.

On Tap at Tired Hands

Aloysious pours out the standard brown color, it's a touch darker than that with a shoeshine brown look with a light tan head up top leaving no stick on the glass. Smell is pretty hoppy, and nice bright earthy hop scent, with a faint roasty background. It's a standard style, yet I get sniffs of caramel mixed in with some rye malt. Tasting this, i get most of the above mentioned scents in the taste including some pine mixed in with citrus backed by rye and caramel. Well balanced beer that deserves a look into, but not a growler purchase. Feel is less than medium with light carb and a mild bitterness.
