First had: on tap at Tired Hands
Fourth in the Darwin Solera series, hopped with Chinook and fermented with Crooked Stave yeast.
Impenetrably cloudy pour, pale golden-yellow with a thick, creamy, white head that lasted until the end, coating the glass with lacing. Aroma was light and grassy, tender notes of citrus and pine, crackery pale malts. The flavor reflected the nose, light and clean, pale malts, fresh hops, pine needles, lemon juice, mild yeasty spice/funk. Mouthfeel was crisp and clean, body was about light-medium. Not as flavorful as some of TH's other brews, but definitely an easy drinker. Very nice overall.

Growler poured into a Tired Hands wine stem.
Pour: This beer looks perfect. Bright, glowing mango orange body with two fingers of frothy, soapy white head. Lots of sticky lacking, and the head hangs around for the majority of the glass. Really digging how bright this beer is.
Smell: Lots of white pepper and earthiness up front. A touch of clove and rosemary. Some citrus and floral hoppiness in the background. Resinous pine. Some doughyness.
Taste: Much more like a saison than APA... the Crooked Stave strain influenced this beer heavily. Lots of cracked pepper, earthy funk, and grassiness. Some lemon and quite a bit of clean pine sap. In the middle, the flavors get rounded by a raw oat, and it's nice to see they're inclusion lent a hand in the flavor of this one. Some barnyard funk. Finishes dry as a bone with cracked pepper, clove, and earthy funk.
Mouthfeel: Really very drinkable, in heavy part due to an extreme dryness. Not much bitterness.
Overall: Another really nice beer from the Darwin Solera series.... I would love to see one of these beers get tossed in a barrel. Well done Jean and co.!
