Poured into a tulip. Unfiltered hazy tangerine color. Nice thick white heading with some good lacing throughout.

From the get go I get a blast of simcoe hops, a touch of lemon zest. Slight yeast and the oats do come out a bit.

That light grapefruit - lemony combination is killer at first. But a subtle smoothness and grassy edge takes hold for a nice finish. A dank oat background kind of hangs around the entire ride. Lingers a bit on the palate. Very enjoyable !

Light bodied , good carbonation. A little bit more on the less chewy side which makes this very quinchable. Crisp and clean.

Lighter ABV and very tasty makes this probably one of the very best sessionable beers around town . (Philly and Burbs) Very impressive and tasty.

Tired Hands is rapidly becoming my favorite brewpub/brewery in PA. I always seem to find excuses to go well out of my way just to get a growler and try some 4 oz. beers.

Fruit-centered and dry-bodied, the late additions of hops give Pineal a fruit cocktail-type of medley with all its vibrant, ripe and juicy glory but without much of its "Hawaiian Punch" type of sweetness.

Opening with a bright golden, light amber color, strands of peach and orange cast over its hazy gaze. As the glowing ale settles in the glass, it releases a rich lather of foam that hovers over the rim with strong retention and broken collars of lace.

Its aromas are busting with fruited candied scents- honey-dipped grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, mango, apricot, passion fruit, goosenberry and peppery currant reminds the nose of fruit roll-ups, dried and concentrated pulp that's all wrapped in a lightly earthen chive and leaf cocoon.

What starts sweet to taste is laced with light caramel, honey and graham cracker but is quickly dissolved as the hops dominate its middle- All those fruit aromas manifests in a highly citrusy, tropical and orchard fruit character- equipped with tangy acidity, gripping yet smooth bitterness and a dry and fruity finish. Light grasses and herbs decorate the citrus like verbena, mint and sassafras all the while.

Light in body, the beer's tactile impressions are that of standard Pale Ale but without the caramel balance that normally accompanies those ales. In this, the hop drying and fleeting sweetness suits IPA well, even though there's a lightness to its finish that's remarkably refreshing yet lacking at the same time.

Pineal is simply a "show-off" of a beer: "Look what I can do with so much hop character and so little malt," but is a beer worth showing off as this superb balance is rarely seen.

64 oz. growler poured into a wine glass.

Appearance - Lots of grapefruit hops. Smells like simcoe, but with some citrus to balance it. A little bit of grain. No sweetness.

Taste - Aggresive hops again. Juicy grapefruit. More bright citrus than the simcoe elements. A touch of grain. Just enough malt sweetness keeps the bitterness at bay.

Mouthfeel - Dry and medium bodied. Moderate bitterness.

Overall - This is great. Simple, clean, and a total hop bomb.

On tap at Tired Hands

A- pours a hazy pale yellow color with a small foamy white head, decent retention with some lacing.

S- sharp evergreen, citrus and floral hop, underlined by a sweet aroma of pineapple and mango with a trace of mint

T- floral, piney and fruity hops up front with a dominant honey sweetness, smooth oats, lots of sweet bready malt near the finish, with lingers of pineapple and floral honey

M- medium body and carbonation leads to a super creamy mouthfeel and a sticky-yet-smith finish

O- really liked the sweet honey and floral notes on this one, definitely a unique ipa
